I survived week one!

Today I start my second week! Thanks for all your help...it made the first week a breeze. I love how helpful everyone in this group is as I never really found much support in the main forums. I thought the first week was not too bad. Naturally I had some days with really low energy and a couple days of being headachy. Broth and other salty stuff helped a ton! No major carb cravings for me. I lost 7 lbs. which I'm sure is a lot of water. MFP is only showing 2.4 or something because I am really bad not to log my weight when it goes up instead of down.
My poor husband has had a much rougher go of it. He's downright miserable but he's going to tough it out another week. I am doing everything I can to make things easier on him and I'm really proud he's toughing it out despite feeling pretty poorly. I think he needs to up his fat and his salt and I keep gently telling him that! He forgot to weigh in at the beginning of the diet but a few weeks ago he was 316 and yesterday he was 302 so I think that gave him a little motivation!
Things I like about the diet are trying new recipes and not feeling hungry. I'm only 4'11 and I love to eat so before I found it VERY hard to stay in the appropriate calorie range for weight loss. I was hungry all the time and I'd suffer for weeks to lose a few pounds and then I couldn't fight the hunger any longer and I'd gain it back. This week I've not had to go hungry at all, I've eaten whenever I felt like it and my calories have stayed at a good range naturally!
I have to bake a cake weekend after next for a family birthday and usually I snack on the batter, the icing, and the fondant. I have celiac disease so I usually make gluten free cakes even though my family can eat gluten. I think this time I'm making a "real" cake because it will ensure I won't snack on it.
Sorry to ramble on!

Good for you! I'm glad you are doing so well.
One celiac to another, be careful of that flour. It can poof out and settle all over stuff and make you sick later. I would stick to GF if you can.... maybe a LC cheesecake?0 -
Congrats! Glad to hear things are going so well for you. KIU!0

It's for my granddaughter's b-day and my daughter wants a Batman cake so it needs to be something I can cover with fondant. I might have my mom make the actual cakes at her house to spare me the gluten flour in the air! lol

Has he signed up with MFP yet? I think it's a huge success factor -- both logging his food and the support and information he'd find here.

Right now he doesn't want to join MFP. He says he doesn't have time to log or be in the forums. Hmmm. I track his food to see what his carb counts are and make sure it's in line for now. I'm kind of his go between. I keep track for him, if he has questions I research, and I try to make him a variety of meals to keep on track.0 -
Good Job! Great wife! Hope he starts taking some ownership though. You can not do it all for him.

Congratulations on getting the first week behind you! You know what to do for the negative symptoms so I feel you should be able to make it without much trouble! Your hubby will have to take the reins at some point, the sooner the better. It's not going to stick until he owns it. Best of luck with the cake, I'm sure your cravings will be much easier to control by then.0

Congratulations to both of you. Telling him it was hellish for me the first TWO weeks then the cravings just melted away then my fat started to melt away but I did not lose a pound for six weeks but I was losing inches. I think my poor health, age and abusing carbs for 40 years were that made leaving sugars and grains off cold turkey a year ago. Keep up the good work you have started.0

Anglyn1, Happy week one. They add up one by one.
I am 5'1" and have a 335 pounder sitting on my sofa. He constantly complains about his weight and thinks working out like a mad man will get him there. He played football in HS and college and still has a jock mentality. He is happy for my 34 lbs. success and is happy to eat low carb if I make dinner for him. But, he won't MFP either. The other thing is that he just then goes and eats whatever if I'm not around. You can lead a horse to water...
Fortunately, I'm not married.
I may end up losing 400 lbs by next May! LOL.

I made this cheesecake for my son's birthday party this past weekend. It was delish and only about 4 net carbs per serving. http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/2013/02/brownie-cheesecake-low-carb-and-gluten-free.html0
