And here we go into the second week of October. Challenges get a bit more tough...just walk into Trader Joes and they are into Pumpkin overload...anything you can think of Pumpkin is there.
Sticking to my basics should keep me out of trouble. Have a great 2nd week, everyone.
Week 1 = 25.95
10/8 - 4.36 miles

Thank you Magic for getting us going .... no kidding pumpkin everywhere!!! I have been slipping in my eating habits, eating some of the foods that my digestive system doesn't like so I won't be sampling any Halloween anything!!! Sticking to the basics...
I am off for 10 days to I want to walk as much as I can. Saturday probably won't be anything spectacular, driving for 3 hours to a 75th wedding anniversary and the 3 hours back.... leaving at 8 in the morning so someone can shop... so I will get some miles in then, because I don't enjoy shopping in Winners.
Week 1 - 27 miles
Oct 8 - 2.3 miles
Have a good weekend everyone0 -

Wow, Lilymay...maybe the drive will keep your steps down...but a 75th wedding anniversary...now THAT is spectacular...imagine that. Are they relatives? What an amazing story. Do tell us all about it when you get back.
Enjoy your 10 day break...that is nice.

Made it to the 75th anniversary and back. It was really awesome!!
Yes Magic, they are relatives. He is my dad's cousin. He will be 99 in December. and she will be 92 in December. I am sure it was a very tiring day for them but they were very happy to see everyone. They have such good humor and positive attitudes. All their kids, right down to their newest and first great great great grandchild were there.
there is longevity in my dad's family!! My dad unfortunately passed away from cancer, but his oldest brother passed away at age 96. My dad's aunt is 101 and has just last week moved out of her own house and into an assisted living place. Her sister was 102 when she passed away. Not sure of the secret here.... one great aunt married twice, had children,; the other was a school teacher and never married.
Oh well ...best get a move on...0 -
Thanks so much for the backstory...wow, how very special. You got some good genes there, Lilymay!
What a very special family you have. Have a wonderful day!0 -

Hi everyone! I am new here and wanted to say hi. Also was wondering how this group works. I need to loose around 25 lb and I start walking, then fall off the wagon you might say. I thought it would help to find a group to help encourage me to continue and make sure I get my walking in. Looking forward to getting to know you all.0

Morning DJ and welcome...we are a tiny group...and very low key. I check in daily (took a leave of absence...lol...but back for good now)...You decide on a goal and go for it. Having a place to check in makes you more accountable...and we get to cheer you on...as you keep doing all those great things for yourself.
Right now, my goal is 100 miles for the month. I leave a running total up there. But it is really up to you how you post. I have a desk job so my miles are very much up to me...but I use a fit bit and take credit for every step during the day.
Have a wonderful day...and let's all take it one day at a time and make the most of each day.

Sorry I've been MIA - I wound up getting a blood infection after having a preventive care procedure . I was in the hospital for a few days with no Fitbits so I had 0 steps for about 3 days I am back at home and trying to manage the 13 daily pills I'm taking (these will taper off by the end of the week) I still have some discomfort but I hope to be back at work and at least able to walk without discomfort next week. Everyone keep on stepping!!!0

Speaking of fit bits...if any of your are fit bit users and want to become friends let me know by Private Message...and we can exchange email addys. It might be fun to push each other with challenges. Just an idea.0

Really sorry to hear of your medical situation...not fun...especially because it was due to something you were doing for yourself that was good. Wow.
Do get well soon...take it slowly...you will be back to your ol self soon. Have a good fall day!0 -
Welcome DJ. I too have a desk job 4 days a week. I wear a pedometer and log all my steps. My goal is to make 10,000 steps a day, I try to walk on my lunch hour and when I get home from work....
Week 1 - 27 miles
Oct 8 - 2.3 miles
Oct 9 - 3.8 miles
Oct 10 - 3.1 miles
Oct 11 - 3 miles
Not doing well with my mini goal of making 10,000 steps a day while I am off (Oct 9 - 17th) but I have crossed off 2 things on my "To Do" list. I have painted the new bathroom we put in downstairs - just in case the plumber shows up .... and I have canned up all the ripe tomatoes. I started on my GST... but that is a "when it is dark outside" job.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends.

Thanks for the welcome. I also use a firbit. This sounds like a great place to get me going. Magic I will send a message. Anyone else have a firbit that wants to be added as a friend.
My name is Janice I a mom of 2 . 18 year old son that has left for college. A 11 year old daughter still at home. My husband is in the Navy and we just moved to NC this past Feb. But left the end of July for Italy for a 9 month deployment. It has been training a lot here in NC. I was planing on starting my walking today, but no, it decided to rain so my firbit count will be very low. Besides housework, I am still looking for a job, I like to read and do a lot of quilting. My goal right now is 10,000 steps a day and hope to increase that count. I hope to start tomorrow if it does not rain. Thanks for welcoming me.0 -
Will be back later today...busy morning...just posting miles for now.

I think these days of walking all over my house doing my housecleaning and getting food ready is really hard on my legs...even though I wear my walking shoes in the house. So today - I am going to go outside and walk my dog to get the majority of my miles in and then sit at my desk and get some bookkeeping done, and I have to put the second coat of paint on the downstairs bathroom.
I shouldn't have to do any cooking because there are leftovers from the turkey dinner last night.

Lilymay...enjoy your time off and the outdoors. I have restarted posting meals in MFP...had tried fooducate for awhile and loved it...but they did an update on their app and it is a pain. I especially like the fact that they distinguish between naturally occurring sugars and added sugars. Fooducate.com Kinda good to check foods when you are shopping. Not always correct however.
Have a great Fall day everyone.
New week begins for us after today.0 -
DJ...my sincere wishes to your husband for a safe journey in the military...and my deepest thanks ... my family is full of gratitude. YOU sure are one busy mom. Be sure and stop in today and join us.
It's just my little muttster and me here. I am retirement age...but things did not go according to plan, and back at full time employment...receptionist job. "How may I direct your call?" LOL
HAVE a great one!
PS My dad was US NAVY...on the Idaho in radar in WWII0 -

Didn't make it outside until after the Blue Jays game - wow what a game!!!
So put away my old sheets that I cover plants with when it gets cold... Some of my annual pots actually look pretty good yet, but it is time to clean them up. Probably Saturday. I did get a walk in with my dog... he was so patient waiting for his walk while I moved a couple more wheelbarrow loads of crushed rock. Every time I headed down the road to the rock pile he would run off as if we were heading out...
Today - heading off to clean up mom's garden... hopefully I don't come home broken like I usually do.0 -
