I think its good to remind yourself why your here. Mine is definitely to ensure that my children weren't missing out on things because of me being too embarassed or insecure...like swimming lessons (mommy & me to start). I also want to workout in a gym, I've been way too embarrassed to do this since high school. I am happy to report that yesterday I went and signed my family up at the ymca for a year and swim class registrations are in a couple weeks. I might even attend a group class tomorrow. You've got to be ready to push yourself out of your comfort zone.

Honestly, I got sick of always being the fat friend at the bar. I haven't been "fat" in a while but when most of your friends are a size 6 and you're rocking a 12 it's not that awesome. I'm currently still at a 10 but I look far better than I did and I'm feeling a lot more confident!0

My primary motivation is my health. Both sides of my family have many of the health problems which are obesity related and I want to if not avoid them at least put them off as long as possible. I don't want to be my cousin in her 30's on high blood pressure medicine if I can help it.
I also enjoy the confidence losing weight gives me. I've been told by close friends I come across as much more confident when I lose weight. It's not that I.m not confident at a higher weight - I guess I'm just more obvious about it when I get smaller.
Another part is vanity I suppose. I want to be skinny and have people notice me for good reasons and not becasue I'm the biggest woman in the room. Currently I'm a size 12 - only one size above my smallest. I started this round at a tight 16 and my biggest ever was a tight 22. My ultimate goal is to be a size 8 - it's my magic number for some reason. I guess because it's the largest single digit size. I do have those who worry about me going too far and losing all my curves. I ask them if they've really seen my hips and butt - they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.0 -

Just look at that family picture. That's enough motivation right there! I've been on MFP for 3 days so far, so my motivation is still pretty clear. Overall, I'm selfish. My skinny jeans are calling me from the recesses of my closet, and I would like for my husband to drool a little bit more when I walk into a room. I was also unaware that my circumference was expanding until I started running into doorways. I bruise pretty easily, so that's another good motivator!0 -
I weigh on Mondays.... 3 lbs lost is enough motivation! hehehe
So I lose 8lb in 5 weeks. I am getting there, w00t!0 -
This is by far my favorite topic so far. I love reading the responses. I think that its so important to acknowledge your motivation and document it. Everyone who comments here has something to remind them of why they are doing this on the days that are bad. So please members, continue to add to this. Motivation is what drives success0

My main motivation is really my health and my family. I come from short-lived people. I'm 43, but both of my parents are already gone, which (how to put this . . . ) um, let's just say it sucks. I really **miss** them, especially my mom. I'd like to be there for my son and my husband, and to have more energy to really BE THERE, while I'm being there. That's the goal. Sure, I have vanity reasons as well, but they pretty much pale in comparison.0
