So the last 2 weeks I did low carb..around 40-50g of carbs. This week I'm doing 25(net) and I'm sooo exhausted and weak. I'm not gonna give in but please tell me this won't last much longer. Ughhhhhh is it 3pm yet?!

Up your salt! It will help!

It will last about 5 minutes if you drink some broth (with about 1000mg of sodium). :)

The fatigue and "blahs" are mostly about low sodium intake. How's yours been?

If you're exercising, then you should be getting close to finding your old groove.

My sodium has been low. And of course I'm at work so I can't really get any broth.
Yes I do work out...I feel extra weak during the work outs..

Most people say another 1-2 weeks for exercise performance to come back. But the thing about exercise is that it's very ketogenic, and your salt needs actually increase. 5000mg/day of sodium is what Phinney and Volek recommend. But experiment and see if you can find a level that works for you.

If you've lost a lot of sodium in the last 2 weeks, consider adding some potassium-rich foods to your diet as well. We start losing potassium if we've lost too much sodium.

Yes, salt! I don't salt much food so I took to chugging back a small glass of water with a teaspoon of added salt. It's 15 seconds of "yuck" as I shoot it and then drink a normal glass of water to get rid of the taste, but it REALLY helped me.

I also took extra magnesium and calcium, along with potassium.

    Hope you feel right soon.

Sure. I used to take them with me on runs, but I prefer pickles. :)

I think you may to get some potassium at this point too.
Gotta keep on top of the salt. It's not necessary to go through these "flu" symptoms we always hear about. It's definitely avoidable.

I keep packets of ramen noodle seasoning in my desk...the stuff is so cheap, I don't feel bad tossing the noodles away. I fill up a foam cup with hot water from the water cooler & stir in a bit of the soup packet & then top it w/ a tablespoon or two of heavy cream for a snack at work. I can usually get 4 cups from one packet. Use more for more sodium, respectively.

Thanks everyone! I ate my lunch and I feel better. Also drank some salt water. I will go shopping tonight and be prepared for tomorrow!
It's so hard to allow myself to eat sodium and fat after years of hearing not to...

I was that way with the salt. My diet was close to salt free. LOL

I've always hated salt and with the teaching about fearing it, I avoided it (still had terrible edema though!). Changing the thought patterns that have been ingrained (erroneously) in us for years can take a bit to overcome. Glad you feel better! Btw, I was resistant to adding fat too. It's what really creates the unhungry feeling that leads to food control that's indescribable! Get that going too, you'll be so glad you did. I agree with @Sunny_Bunny_ too on the potassium that's needed. It goes the same way sodium does with this woe. It's a lot to adjust to, at first, while you change your body to using fat for fuel, but it's awesome once you get there!

Lol I think a lot of us have been there done that. I remember when I first started and I was soooo hungry. Someone suggested that I eat a tbsp of butter to see if the fat helped. Well geez, who thought choking down some butter would be so hard mentally. Hehe. I almost gagged cause it seemed so wrong after everything you hear on the news and such. Now I'll happily eat butted straight from the block. Mm mm mmmmmmm.

    Hahahah I love everyone's posts!!!
It was funny at lunch because I used ranch dressing for the first time in years instead of balsamic and with every bite I was like "omg this doesn't feel right, this is so good, but I'm gonna gain weight back, but fat is good now" it was a stressful lunch lol!

That is a good idea! I used to eat those all the time pre-keto. I also used to add butter to it. Heavy cream is very similar...I'll try both (off to Walmart now)...

    Thanks Jodeh!

That is sooooo me. Those were so demonized my whole life, it was hard (but not that hard for me, to mentally get over it at first ~ because I loved both of them so much..(and Mayo).. but after reading all the posts on the Keto group ~ similar to the above (13 months ago) it took me about 3 bites and ten minutes to throw those bad ideas out (never looking back).... LOL!

Yes @AngInCanada! Hearing about people actually eating plain butter grossed me out in the beginning too! I couldn't imagine doing that! Now, if I get low on butter I begin to get anxious, like a smoker getting down to their last few cigarettes, lol! It, and hwc, made all the difference for me!

@ttw1211, it's so wonderful that we get to eat foods that taste GOOD, and still regain our health! Rock on with your ranch dressing! It's a crazy new way of looking at food, but once you experience the benefits, you won't look back (except to wonder why you waited)! Best to you dear!
