Believe it or not, I've seen a ton of them at thrift stores and goodwill for $5 or less.... Even the large family sized ones!

On the hotel coffee pot being used to heat some foods; yes, just run the water through, without the coffee and put the meat...in the carafe!! Brilliant! Wheels are turning! I see cooked bacon (or just about any food) in a zipper type bag IN the water, to heat!! Genius idea!!! The water wouldn't get hot enough to melt the bag, I wouldn't think, since the coffee they produce isn't that hot anyway. Kitchenette when there isn't one! Ha!

Now that's an idea!!!! I was wondering how I could hear my bone broth up without a microwave (hotel doesn't have and charging 10$ a night for a fridge!!!). It's a casino hotel guess they will charge you out the eye lol

A casino hotel won't usually have a fridge/microwave since they want you to eat in their restaurants!

Will be hitting up the Hardees near me tonight after I take kids from church to the corn maze. I'm excited!

Nothing travels like canned fish - Tuna, Kippers, Sardines, Salmon. A basic quickie lunch solution on the go.
And yea, bunless burgers, but the quality of meat at FF is mostly terrible and the temptation to order fries with that is just unbearable. LOL.

I've been on 3 road trips since spring and I've found fast food places to be very inconsistent on special oeders but that's nothing new.

I'll add two more possibilities. McD's Steak, egg & cheese sandwich w/o the bun. Panera's Chicken Cobb Salad with Avocado.

    These are good ideas.

When traveling or at home I prefer Huddle House. I get nothing but bacon, fried eggs and coffee which is a 24/7 option. Denny's has the same options but there are none locally but often are in many parts of the USA.

Many free hotel breakfasts will have at least boiled eggs.

After a year of very LCHF I have learned it is very doable when away from home or at home.

I think Chipotle or Free Birds is more universal in the U.S. now. there are a ton around here. haven't had it since doing keto but wanna try getting a bowl - without the rice!! just pick your meat, they have a ton of veggies, sour cream, guacamole...yummm yummm it will be so good when I finally get around to going.

also, on the way to a rehearsal this week I stopped by McD's and got 2 beef patties with nothing else - was cheap, like $1.30. when I go on a trip I'll probably get 2-3 patties with the veggies, cheese and bacon wrapped in lettuce. looking forward to that. if a restaurant says they won't do that just go to a different burger place.

but yeah like other people said just getting McD's breakfast sandwiches without the bread sounds brilliant. or you can just ask for eggs and bacon or sausage.

The only problem I've had was at a subway. The "manager" tried to explain that they count the salad plates for inventory, so putting sub fillings in one was affecting her inventory (I call bs on that one) and went on to say they would accommodate me "this time". Some people don't know why you wouldn't want the bread. It's their problem, not mine. Btw: I havent been back to that subway. If they refuse to accommodate my order they don't deserve my business! I think they forget that we have choices!

OMG this happened to me too. Now I just order a foot long sub and throw away the flatbread. The salad ended up being more expensive than a footling. Glad to hear it's happened to someone else and that the one I was at wasn't crazy. I actually have this coupon card that I can get a free 6" with the purchase of a 6" and a soda so I'm getting a foot long for the price of a 6" anyway.

I have gone to McD and ask for a grilled Chicken breast patty. Should be about $2. At Costco, I get the hot dog and throw the bun away.

I hope your weekend went well, Etta. I'm interested to hear how you made it work!

For my part, on Friday night after I took boys from church to a corn maze, my co-leader and I went to Hardees (Carl's Jr, for some of you). I had my first bun-less burger - it was way less weird than I thought it'd be, and also not as sloppy as I imagined it to be. No one blinked an eye when I ordered it, and it's also served in a paper sleeve on the bottom, like a lot of burritos are served. An eye-opening experience for sure!

I do the same thing sometimes. I'll get it to go and take it home. Toss the bun, replace with one low carb slice of bread which works well and gives me something to hang onto, add my own low sugar ketchup and no-sugar sweet pickle relish and enjoy the dog!! <3

wendy's - double stacks or baconator (can add extra patties), plain, no bun.

mcd - sausage patties and round eggs (even easier now that they serve breakfast all day!)

This morning, I had three round eggs and a couple slices of cheese from McD's. Just order them like that. It's cheap too, it was actually cheaper than one McMuffin at normal price. The round eggs are real whole eggs. I don't know about the scrambled eggs.

The scrambled eggs have some random added stuff, from what i remember....something carby, and some weird fake butter spray to make them pretty...

So is the round McD eggs just boiled eggs?

No, those are the "cracked" eggs into the rings to cook, for like the Egg McMuffin. Whole eggs, nothing added except what's on the grill for non-sticking.
