any effect of bcaa's and PWO drink on keto

I would assume not, but wondered if anyone had info. Just BCAA's and a 0 cal/carb/anything pre-workout drink for some fasted exercise. Would those negate any awesome keto fat-adapting effects of fasted exercise? They're not supposed to kick you out of a fasted state if you're on a more normal diet. Normal meaning not very low carb.
Btw where is really fit bike dude that eats Snickers?

Depends on the brand of BCAAs. The stuff I take is a BCAA/electrolyte formula and has about 40 calories and contains artificial sweetener.
The sweetener alone could be enough to kick some people out of ketosis, others can tolerate no problem.
As for @KittensMaster... I have not seen him around for ages! It's a shame because he was kind of the authority on maintaining ketosis while doing intense (extreme) exercise.0 -
I don't know about the product you describe. I just wanted to chime in and say that @KittensMaster is missed, as well as any others who have come and gone for whatever reason. It's sad getting to know people here and then they are just gone. I'm proud of those of us who have stuck around to continue this journey together! Sorry to jump in with that! Please forgive since it has nothing to do with with the OP!0

My BCAA's are straight BCAA's with nothing else. The pre workout I've used in my cupboard says it has 0 anything. Does have sucralose but wouldn't be the only sweetener I've used thus far0

Looks like he deleted his profile...strange0

Yes kittensmaster has been gone for at least a month0

Okay, I need some clarification here: what does bcaa mean? I am unfamiliar with this abbreviation.0

Branched chain amino acids. They help your muscles retain themselves when you restrict/fast. They're sorta like incomplete protein. L-leucine etc. They taste terrible by themselves but much more cost effective to get plain BCAA powder and mix with pre workout mix or something tasty to cover the bitter taste.0

BCAAs are in all proteins.0
-
But they don't affect your fasted state the way consuming real protein would.0

My fiance and I are both on keto. He lifts heavy and I do a 3 day a week weenie lifting workout. No, I don't lift weenies. I lift weenie-sized weights in comparison to his. heh
We both take Gaspari Nutrition Aminolast BCAAs. They are tasty and have never caused a problem with our diet, and they do seem to help with the workout.
One of our friends is a um... "recovering diabetic" - through diet and exercise, he got to a point where his doc said to just keep it up and he didn't need to treat him anymore! He also takes the same aminos.
Nutrition on the label is listed as:
10 calories
2g protein
Apart from the electrolytes and aminos, the ingredients are:
Citric Acid, Malic Acid, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, Beta Carotene (Color).
No carbs listed on the label.
I love the orange mango flavour, but you can only get it online from one particular place. So tasty.
The local Vitamin Shoppe (US chain) also carries the product in a couple other flavours.

Ah, thank you for the explanation! I was in a health food store yesterday and I saw a GINORMOUS bottle of something that had "BCAA" on the label so I had to immediately stop and look at it and try to find out what it was because of this post! lol0
