Mouth Issues after a 70.3?

Hi Tri Peeps! I just finished my first 70.3 this past weekend (Beach2Battleship)! It went great; beautiful day, great course and ended up placing 4th in Athena (went 5 deep in that category!!). However, I am left with this pain in the back top part of my mouth that is keeping me from enjoying any post-race foods (right?!)!! Its kind of like I have had an allergic reaction to something, almost like welts up there...its right where my soft and hard palate come together. Has anyone experienced this after a race? Does anyone know what might have caused this? I didn't do gels, only liquid nutrition on the course. TIA!
