I woke up feeling off. My head was hurting and I felt dizzy. My old way of thinking wanted to blame all the fat I was eating. But then I got on the board and read the launch pad and found the cause. I drank my salt water and all the yucky feelings went away. I am thinking of drinking salt lemon water in the a.m. Good idea or no? Remember I am new to this WOE. Also I noticed I can't hold my pee that long. When I have to go, I gots to go. I was somewhat skeptical about eating so much fat but the scale is moving. And that's all the proof I need. Please if you have any suggestions, please bring it on and if I can add you let me know. God bless! :-)

Lemon and it's juice does have some carbs, but as long as it isn't over you macro, it can be a good electrolyte for you...

Salt is essential to life. And don't try to hold your pee longer than necessary. That's bad for bladder health!

Boullion cubes, eat pickles, however you need to get the salt in.

Thanks for the input. I am going to buy some black olives since no One in the house likes them but me. I was.eating pork rinds thinking that they were salty enough??

Yes, pork rinds are great. Just make sure to get the ones that are only pork and salt! Too many types have additives. :)

5000 mg minimum of sodium is recommend while you're adapting, generally the first 4-12 weeks depending on your metabolism.

That " gotta pee now!" Feeling is a good sign for ketosis. But it means you're losing sodium and likely potassium by the truckload!
I find I'm ok at 3000mg a day unless I'm running to the bathroom more than normal, then I need the 5000+ for sure. And I've been adapted for months.
You kinda have to seek out the sodium specifically and can't rely on getting it from some salty snacks alone. Even on days I'm eating bacon, pork rinds and pumpkin seeds, I'll still salt my foods well and I use NuSalt (salt substitute) for my potassium supplement. I also started taking magnesium a few months in.
I think the easiest way is drinking broth from bouillon. It's also nicely filling somehow. Can help with a boredom hunger rush. I'll add the NuSalt to the broth too. You can even add a dab of butter and/or coconut oil if you need some more aggressive hunger control.

Thank you for that because it seems like lately I've been having to pee a whole lot more frequently that I used to during the day. It typically doesn't wake me up at night, but I definitely notice it during work. I had no idea that it was caused by being in ketosis. I don't use keto stix or anything but I tend to keep my carbs under 30 so it makes sense that I am in ketosis but don't think about it.

You're welcome! It's kinda funny because I learned this years ago after my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I can always tell when her blood sugar is high because she will be running to the bathroom constantly! For her it happens due to not injecting enough insulin, therefore her body has no choice but to make ketones to continue to function even though she has a bunch of glucose available in the blood.
Researching for her health concerns is how I first learned about nutritional ketosis. Kinda blew my mind when I learned how good ketones actually are for the body and especially the brain!
