I did C25K starting 3/18/13 -- did the entire program then my first 5K was the very next day.
My first race time was 33:54 and I was so proud of myself for finishing! This past weekend I did my second race and finished in 30:55! I shaved 3 minutes off my previous time. For a girl who used to weigh 399 pounds this is one of those unthinkable, only in your imagination, kinda moments.

That is awesome and gives me hope that I will be able to do it. I am just starting on week 4 of training and I am registering for a 5K in the very near future so there will be a huge incentive not to quit the training.
Congratulations.0 -
You ran 33:xx in your first 5k? That is impressive! I'm running my first 5k on the last day of my C25K program, and will be delighted if I finish in under 40 minutes.0

That really is impressive! Did you train outside or on a treadmill? How fast did you run when training? I just started the program for the second time and would like to focus on time along with endurance.
Thanks0 -

Thanks
I have always run outside - never tried a treadmill or elliptical for the C25K. We run at a pretty good pace. Generally we were running about 11.5 minute miles....... I'm always able to carry on a conversation with my running partner (but he sometimes doesn't answer becuase it may be a tad fast for him!) Sometimes we were faster on the interval runs in the beginning, but we slowed it down when we started doing the longer runs (over 8 minutes). I have friends who are also running and they always comment that we run fast -- I run at a pace that feels comfortable and gets me through to the end. Both races I have given 110% and run way faster than I ever did training. The first mile of the last 5K I did was 9:44 --- That's too fast for me to maintain, but I was thrilled to accomplish it!0 -
Wow you had some fast times! Congrats!!0
