I have two goals for November and want to track them here
1. No weekday wine (eek!)
2. More fiber

Both goals are directly menopause related, but both are also relevant to my lower carb attempts.
1. Clearly reducing wine nights is good. For the number on the scale. For my blood sugars. For menopause. For my wallet.
2. Everything I'm reading now suggests fiber is good for managing estrogen levels. I know I'm "estrogen dominant", so going to try to keep my carbs at 50-75 but going to try to UP my fiber even more.

Cheers!

Good luck Sabine! I need to cut down the wine as well - I had just about given it up, but I have started getting into my old bad habits...wine destroys my self control for other things too!

    You can do it.
I gave up my weekday alcohol. I only drink on Saturday evenings now. I drink some calming teas instead on the other nights.

YUP. I gave up my wine nights, which was a nightly ritual (craving). It's difficult to break habits more than anything else, but eventually over a few months you won't even miss it anymore. I am sleeping better and I don't wake up with that tired feeling anymore. It is such a huge noticable change and really worth it.

@baconslave - My Keurig Nightly Calm tea is great, Also having fun steeping a variety of different caffeine free oolong and rooibos teas so much better to sip slowly while watching a movie. Love the smells. (Peppermint tea-mmmm)

I have an occasional vodka martini when I go out, (just 1 now once or twice a month). I also cut way back on that too. It just stalls my progress for the week.

For fiber - I added in Kale and spinach other leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, avocado, raspberries, almonds, but no grains, no beans. More water.

Good luck, great goals for this month! We are all here to support you. just check-in when you get the "urge". LOL.

I love vegetables, so it shouldn't be too tough. But it is a focus.
Lunch today was a paleo broccoli, cabbage, leek gratin with sausage and cheese.

Yum. Nice lunch. I haven't really cooked with leeks. Good idea.
I just found this recipe.. If you have a link to share..

    http://www.redbookmag.com/food-recipes/recipes/a31205/cauliflower-leek-parmesan-gratin-recipe/

I was in a hurry this am and didn't prep over the weekend, so I had a can of tuna with mayo and an avocado. (yawn- plan, plan)

    Drinking tea now at work.

No idea how you can do the beans - I estimate I was having a minimum of 35 carbs of beans a day and I miss them. But with a limit of 25 per day - they just don't fit. My insides sorely need the fiber.
