As I've been reading through a lot of the recent discussions I am noticing that a lot of us grow frustrated with the scale. My weight, too, has been fluctuating some but without any substantial weight loss. However, I know realistically that I have only been back to strict tracking for about 3 weeks and I will NOT throw the towel in and give up on myself like I have so many times before. The funny thing is, I've actually been enjoying the increased activity and haven't felt deprived with my eating, so why would I give up just because of the number on a scale? I do plan on checking my measurements in another week or two to see if there is any difference there, but my clothes are fitting similarly so I don't expect a huge difference yet.
However, I found one victory that proves to me that I really am doing something right and treating my body better. Earlier this week I was not getting enough sleep and had a couple slices of pizza, a piece of birthday cake, and a couple of alcoholic drinks. The next night at work (I work night-shift, which I know also slows my weight loss) I had an upset stomach, a sore throat, and a runny nose. I thought "that's all I need is to be getting sick." WELL, I got back to my healthy eating providing my body with real nutrients, got in a workout the next day that I wasn't feeling, slept for 8 hours, drank tea, and here we are three days later and I feel great! I never ended up getting sick!! So not only did I take the cues from my body that it didn't like what I was doing, but I actually prevented myself from getting a full blown cold or flu. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is a process and I AM getting healthier, just have to keep listening to my body.

That is a wonderful victory. I used to work nights too (12 hr. shifts) , so good for you sticking to your healthy living plan under very challenging circumstances.0

And it is very hard to notice those times your body does successfully fight off something you might have gotten worse on a prior big diet.
Those little times of being a tad tired and going to bed maybe 2 hrs earlier, or skipping a workout, or eating that extra apple because you felt like it even though it went over calories - never know if that was a potential path to a cold if you'd done things differently.
I certainly know there are times I did do things different and did end up with a cold. Now who knows, could have gotten it anyway, but still. Less is more in that case.0 -
complete agree, I used to weigh myself weekly, now I am weighing myself monthly. I am trying to get away from the whole "the scale dictates my progress" mentality. I am finding I am happier with progress made at the gym than I ever was with the scale.0
