Well, it's back to normal this week. Well, I actually plan to do better than normal. After a weekend of splurging on some yummy food, it's past time for some more veggies and less fried foods. I feel better today already. :)

@bbinoa Yes, this month is flying by. I absolutely LOVE Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday, and I'm really looking forward to it. Plenty of good food, laughter, and love. Also, an 8K is just a little under 5 miles. I was glad I did it (I'm an official international runner.), but that race was boring. Running on an airport runway is overrated. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

@Laughter_Girl - running anywhere is overrated. Lifting weights is where the fun is. Nothing like being able to out lift teens who play football.

I've been doing good w/my new "goals"- I generally log a little to see where I'm at, but mostly I've just been trying to make some good choices- less of those prepared diet type things (you know the 100 calorie whatever's that come in boxes), and more stuff like fruit, veggies, nuts, yogurts, whole grain things as snacks. Stopping when I'm full etc. Weight wise, I've stayed in a good place, but I think I'm looking leaner, and I feel great! So far so good! I was worried I'd totally fall off the wagon (landing gently in a tub of ice cream).

@Laughter_Girl - running on an airport runway? Sounds incredibly boring! What an odd race! But saying you're an international runner is super cool! Nice!!

I like Thanksgiving too. Making all the stuff my grandmother used to makes me very happy. I feel very connected to my past. My husband wanted stove top stuffing and I almost passed out. No no no! (my apologies to the makers of stovetop). I think he can make an entire Thanksgiving meal in a microwave.

@MelissaPhippsFeagins ... yes! That is awesome! Are you going back to that Jamie Eason thing this winter? I'm getting back in the gym to lift more and looking for something. That may be a little too time intense but I'm still looking... any suggestions?

@bbinoa I am doing 5x5 strong lifts right now. I am not sure what I will switch to after the new year. I don't think I can do Jamie Eason during the school year. It's 12 weeks and the last 8 are 5-6 days a week. I think I will start that in May and do it through June and July.
And where the heck did my stats for yesterday go? I swear I typed them in the message about lifting....anyway, take 2.

    Green - yes 15/25
Streak 5 days 1 of 2 streaks complete
Exercise - no 7/15 - I can never manage extra exercise on Scout night.

In other news, overtime continues but Mr.Scrooge* has said we don't have to do it next week. It will pick up again on November 30.
*I don't mean to be cruel but the new VP for Revenue does look a bit like middle-aged Scrooge in the black and white A Christmas Carol.

Rest day except for Merry Core-mas exercises!

Sounds like everyone is in a really good place right now! I'm not much of a lifter but I am enjoying the body weight challenges I'm doing with a partner thru the holidays.

@MelissaPhippsFeagins, I'm a revenue cycle trainer for a hospital. My focus is actually front end, patient access, but the "Scrooge" reference made me laugh!

I wish I enjoyed lifting, but I think that's boring too. Ha, ha, ha, ha. I would like to do it more, and I plan to do more of it, but at the moment, I just do some light strength training a couple of times a week. I need to purchase some heavier weights though. Despite not really enjoying it, I like the health benefits of lifting, which is why I want to make it a part of my regular routine. I'm not familiar with the Jamie Eason thing. I'll have to look that up.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi . . . I know I've seriously been MIA. I'm currently trying to work out my maintenance calories. The upshot is that I'm red most days - but the good news is my weight seems stable. I'm hoping to rejoin the challenge in December.

@jenthibert I work the back end, arguing with insurance companies. And Scott is actually a nice guy. The way the email was worded made me think of a Christmas Carol, though.

@k80flec - good to see you back and I am glad you seem to have found your sweet spot for maintenance

Green - yes, by over 600 calories 16/25
    Streak - 6 days 1 of 2 completed

I left a quarter of my calories on the table yesterday so for today my goal number is 2300 calories instead of 2100. I'm working two extra hours and helping pack the Santa Train tonight so I think I will need them.

    Hey everyone- just checking in!
My work is offering some new fitness classes- did a half hour boot camp thing yesterday at lunch. It was great, but I was totally unprepared for how sweaty I'd get! Luckily, we do have a full fitness center and showers, but something about getting all naked at work is really weird! I just need to remember to pack more stuff for days that class is offered. My hair was pretty scary the rest of the day.
Will be trying a run this weekend- my first one since the marathon (besides a few short jogs in the middle of walks). Feeling ready! I've missed it.
    Happy weekend all!!

Merry Core-mas exercises but no Cardio.

@bbinoa, let us know how you make out. Long run on Sunday, 60 full minutes for the first time. Haven't run outside in two weeks so we'll see how it goes! This will follow tomorrow's hills workout...

@MelissaPhippsFeagins, I find social gatherings exhausting! Add in kids and activities and it's bedtime when all's said and done.

@Laughter_Girl, totally agree with your take on rest days.

@jenthibert that is awesome . Good for you!! Good luck tomorrow. You'll totally rock that.

I did 4.5 miles today, first real attempt post marathon man, I'm sore! I did more running than usual too. my feet really hurt. Ow. Maybe I needed more time to recover?

Hi folks! I didn't realize I had been gone so many days. I had to go back to look at my calendar to see what I have been doing. I did a little strength training one day and a run another. I didn't do anything today. It has been a snowy mess in Michigan (first snow fall of the season), and the only exercise I managed to get was removing snow from my vehicle.

@jenthibert You had an excellent pace!! Good for you. I know you'll knock out those 60 minutes in no time. I wish I had the proper gear to go running tomorrow, but I don't have my snow gear just yet. I'll have to do some indoor exercises tomorrow instead.
@bbinoa Good for you for getting back out there!! Although you're sore, I know it felt good to be back at it once again. Rest up, but keep pushing!

7 miles in an hour and 5 minutes! Last mile was actually my fastest but my overall pace was 9.29.

@Laughter_Girl, what do you recommend for winter gear? I have stuff I wear for snowshoeing, but it's bulky clothing...

@bbinoa, how are you feeling today?

I did a little strength training and walking video today. Although it wasn't long, I have a feeling I'll be feeling it in the morning.

@jenthibert I can't provide you any recommendations for winter gear. Ha, ha, ha. This is my first official winter that I plan to run outdoors. The one thing for certain I need is either a running shoe for the snow, or that contraption you put over your shoes to allow for running in the snow. I actually saw it a little over a week, and had it in my hand but decided it was probably a little premature. Based on yesterday's weather though, I should have just purchased it. :) The only other tip I have received from other runners is to keep the chest covered. I bought a windbreaker vest that I absolutely love. It works like a charm. Finally, I knew last year that I needed some warm gloves. I purchased a pair from Eddie Bauer that are warm and includes a spot for the heat warmers. They are wonderful too. If I learn of anything additional, I will certainly pass it along.

I think I am coming down with a cold. I spent the day in bed yesterday. Then I got to work today and found out that J. quit on Friday afternoon and I will definitely be on OT until the end of the year.

Is it bad that I'm typing this while eating these fabulous little double chocolate snowball cookies I made? I'm leaving powdered sugar prints all over my keyboard at work... hehe. I'm hoping one of the kids eats the rest up before I get home.

@Laughter_Girl - how much snow did you get? I'm in PA and it's snowed some places. I've seen a few flakes (the precipitation variety) already. That's crazy! As far as winter running, I know what you mean by those things you strap on your shoes... I can't recall the name, but they are helpful when it's slippery. I've had them for walking. I think you need to make sure you've got shoes that are a little more water resistant (like stuff made for trails I imagine) to keep yourself dry. Check out the runners world website, and their forum. There's probably a lot of posts w/other suggestions for winter running.

@jenthibert my foot still hurts, darn it! I'm finally breaking down and going to see someone about it. Probably should have before but I didn't want to hear "don't do the race." But now I feel like I've rested, iced, medicated and it's still there. I don't want to end up worse off, or using it as an excuse to say eat more of those snowball cookies!

Rest day except for Merry Core-mas exercises. Not sure if I'm over in calories or not so I'll say red.

@bbinoa and @Laughter_Girl, I think I have some yak Trax tucked away. They were a gift from my brother in law who is a supervisor for ups. Their drivers use them so they come highly recommended. I wonder how they are to run in. I'm going to have to dig them out. Snowed here today!

@bbinoa, definitely time to get the foot checked. Seems like you've given it time enough to heal. I'd have done exactly what you did. Didn't want anyone telling me what I couldn't do after all that training.

Well, I'm not going to make my exercise goal. Dang it! I'll be one day short if I don't miss another day. If I hadn't been so lazy yesterday I could have done it. I wish I could be like those that actually count the calories from cleaning because that's what I did, but I never feel as though it's an "official" workout. Oh well, maybe next month.

    @jenthibert & @bbinoa I hope both of you are feeling 100% soon!

@Laughter_Girl, I won't hit my exercise goal either. If I counted my days that I only do the Merry Core-mas exercises maybe, but that's 10 minutes or less and it doesn't get my heart rate up. I'm with ya!

No exercise except for Merry Core-mas exercises. Feeling better tonight but it was a rough day. Plus side is a lack of appetite so I haven't really missed my exercise calories.
