Hey guys! Sorry I was MIA! It was a lot of early mornings!
Marla - I hate going to gyms that make it all about trying to upsell you. I don't want a sales pitch, just a place to get my workouts in! Hopefully you find a good place!
Laura - I hope your run went well!
Well, Ironman AZ was amazing to be part of! With the stuff we volunteered for, we actually had access to both the transition area, and the finish line! It was a long day and I was actually on my feet non-stop except a few hours. I got over 30,000 steps in on Saturday and Sunday. The were over 2800 athletes and over 4,000 volunteers. I did body marking and helping people get into their wetsuits. We stayed and helped the bike handlers, so we helped the athletes get their bikes out after the swim. Then we headed over to the run aid station and helped set up. So we got to pass out water, gatorade, food, etc to the elite and professional athletes which was amazing to see them run so fast after the 2 mile swim and the 112 mile bike! During the run aid station, in the late morning it started to drizzle, the temp dropped and then it started to rain. I think we had a high of 58 degrees with pouring rain. It was seriously miserable. We had to head home to dry our clothes and then come back to be finish line catchers. They come across the line and we put a blanket around them and support them as they walk and get their medal, turn in their timing chip, get a t-shirt, and get their picture. Basically make sure they are okay physically and get them to the food or massage tent before heading back for the next person. It was incredible to see them as they finished! I definitely want to attempt one in. few years!
In other news, I tried using body glide on my feet just to make sure I don't get any blisters...and I think the sliding of my toes caused a blister on the side of my big toe that was massive. It impressed my paramedic husband. So no running until that heals up. Had to walk around ironman with that blister but it seems to be doing okay.
Now I have to gear up this week for our trip to MN, We leave in the middle of the night on Friday night and we're gone for over a week. So gotta get everything ready for church, get our house set, and pack and everything this week. So no real breather for me there.
Have a great day!0 -
Rained out my plans today, was going to university campus to register voters. I was looking forward to being on campus for first time since moving here.
I am signed up for two more times in Dec fingers crossed I don't get rain on my other days. They do it out in the quad in the open. You would think they would find a covered area since this area gets a ton of rain this time of year.
Feeling ansy since I was all ready to go out and now....I should walk in the rain but that holds no appeal to me! lol0
