Subway for lunch, didn't have a chance to check nutrition, got 12" steak and cheese in a bowl, with mayo and mustard. Just now looked at their website, there are 4 *kitten* carbs per 6" portion of their steak. It simply boggles my mind that I just blew 8 carbs on the meat. Absolutely ridiculous.

I should have got the buffalo chicken strips, would have only cost me two carbs. Lesson learned, next time I push for McDonald's.

Sugar was probably included in the preservatives....that sucks!

Yeah it just pissed me off because if I wanted 8 carbs I could have had a bunch of roasted veg for that.

That's annoying. I hate when stuff like that happens. I once went out for some buffalo wings. Specifically asked if they were breaded. They weren't. But, they were lightly floured before being fried. How that isn't "breaded" is a wonder to me. With the seasoning, it took me a while to notice. When I checked on the chain's website, the wings had over 30g of carbs. That's insane. That was not what I planned for, at all.

Yeah, 8 carbs won't kill me but it's the principle of the thing.

    Precisely.

When we go out, I've started asking if there are any grains. Not gluten, not carbs, not sugar, but grains of any kind. That usually gets a manager involved and I can get some real answers about what's in the food. Granted, I usually check before I go, but not all restaurants update their online menus regularly!

I figured that there would probably be at least a couple carbs just because... well just because, but 8?

I know. The amount of carbs in restaurant food always stuns me. You put sugar in that? WHY???
  • Thanks for the heads up on the Subway bowls. Were the carbs all in the meats or some in the veggies?

There were 8 grm per the amount of meat they put on a 12" sub. Anything from the cheese, mustard or mayo was extra.

They had other options much lower in carbs but I didn't realize until after. I ended up at 15 carbs from the day total, counting heavy cream, cream cheese, roasted cauliflower with dinner and the lunch, so not the end of the world.
