Ketogenic Ratio

Just curious if anyone has ever heard of the Ketogenic ratio by R.T. Woodyatt MD? In summary, one of the sites I read describes it as the "equation basically gives you the potential ketone producing potential of a given meal depending on the relative ketogenic or anti-ketogenic effect of the different macronutrients." It was originally used in the planning of diets for epilepsy patients.

I'm wondering if this formula could potentially take a lot of guesswork out of whether or not my meals may or may not knock me out of ketosis. Anyone ever use this? I'm still pretty new to keto and would love to know if anyone has any experience using this? Thanks!

Haven't used this, so I can't comment specifically.
For me, ketosis is pretty simple - stay under 20 gram total carbs per day and you're in ketosis. There is no "guesswork", because I don't want to "dance on the edge" of ketosis I want to live firmly there.
If you were carb cycling this might be a help.

+1, because I was going to say exactly this.0 -
Thanks guys. I guess that makes it easier.0

I'm aware of it when I see nutritional info on packaging, but I don't base my decisions around it. Carb cap is the primary, which I monitor through CONSTANT VIGILANCE (tracking everything on MFP and being wary of user-entered food data).0

It's hard enough to stick with 20g per day - which for me has meant remarkable success. So I figure why monkey aound?0

Sounds interesting so thanks for the links so I can read about ratios. My blood ketones measured 2.6 this morning.0

I think the ratio formula helps if you're more carb sensitive, because the general idea is to spread your carbs around equally or have the most in the morning, when your body is it's strongest after rest to fight back...0
