Sherry after my leg injury I had a hard time accepting what I could do vs what I wanted to do. I even had the advantage of knowing what was wrong & what I needed to do to recover. That period of time where I knew something was wrong but not what exactly was wrong was so frustrating. I'm not sure what I did that caused the stress reaction, so even now I worry I'm repeating the same mistakes. Fitness can be as much mental as it is physical. And when life gets chaotic too that can be overwhelming. Happy to hear you're doing some weights. Find what you can do and focus on that. Do the best you can with what your body allows you to do right now. At least that's what helped me.

It was 7:30 last night before I started my gym workout. I needed to hog a bunch of equipment because I was doing timed intervals (30 second intervals of 8 exercises - 4 sets with a 1:00 rest between sets). The best space for what I needed to do they use as the classroom so I needed to work around the classes too. It took 58 minutes including my warmup, stretch, and getting in the rest of my burpees. Yesterday was 75 burpees and Jason put them into the circuit but I only got 52 in during the intervals, so I owed him 23 more.

    Today is 90 burpees & a 4 mile run.

    Good thread starter!

I talked to DH a bit tonight about my frustration and it was good to get it off my chest. I had preemptively (optimistically) made a great weekly running plan for Winter that included hill repeats on Saturday. I was sad I can't do them. How crazy...like really crazy...is it to be sad you can't run hill repeats?! Lol! I haven't run since JUNE(!), but I still hold out hope. I don't see myself doing weights more than 3x/wk so I really realllly hope I can start running some too. But I literally have trouble walking at this point due to my right leg. Still experimenting with stretches and changes in movement when I walk (toeing off or not, pronating, suppinating, etc). Got to get my eating under control too. I'm really back at zero again with everything.

You've been to doctors about your leg? Or not that?

No, I haven't. I've pondered over what type of doctor. Then there's the fact that while I was doing all that heart stuff in October, I found out we don't have current insurance. DH was supposed to fix that while in town, but I doubt he has. Unfortunately he's not very responsible when it comes to these things and the system (and language) here is so utterly and completely different...I don't know where to start. At least thanks to the heart stuff, I now know how to go about seeing a doctor. I was so accustomed to PPO in -network lists and referrals and such in the US, that I didn't know where to begin here when it comes to non-routine stuff, needing diagnosis. Apparently, here you just go to whoever you want (no need for referral for specialist) and in our case, pay cash :(. But I don't want to waste money with the wrong specialist though. Wish DH would just ask his cousin who is a phys. ther. what Doctor I should see....but considering his uncle is a leading cardiologist and he wouldn't call him for my heart stuff..I don't see that happening (found my cardiologist from google search). I'm giving it til January or so, then I'm going to ask around. I also met an American phys.ther. recently here who might know the right kind of doctor.
