Re-starting LCHF for the umpteenth time. Someone recommended The Beck Diet Solution, so I'm working through that as I go this time.

My husband is doing it with me too, in hopes that he'll be able to ride all the rides at Six Flags over Christmas.

So far, 19 days was my streak. Planning to beat it.

Do you know what the issue is that is causing you to stop LCHF?

Convenience, i think. I get tired of not being able to just pop in and get something. The funny thing is, I'd tell you the same thing about being gluten free and I don't waver on that.

My problem is mostly mental, which is why somebody suggested The Beck Diet Solution for me. It makes you go through and review the reasons why you want to lose weight (or in my case, eat healthy) and works on providing you with strategies to keep going.

In 3 days, 2 without sugar, 1 low carb, I'm down 3 pounds. I *need* to keep it up this time and learn to stick with it.

I could see effort vs reward being a potential cause for me to give up. A lot of effort and sometimes embarassment of not being able to join in when at friends houses for meals or inconveniencing them to make something special for me. Fine if a bbq but nibbles only nights are a trick. A lot of effort to learn a new way of living so not sure how sustainable it is when visiting friends. Sure I can host or go out together but that is not a long term solution. 4 nights out this week.

That is how I view a very LCHF diet, just like I view my need to eat gluten free. It is a medical requirement for me. If I cheat my blood glucose would immediately return to bad levels, my health will decline, and my weight will be less than optimal.

LCHF is just another dietary requirement like staying GF, and my son avoiding nuts.

If I keep it all or nothing, I can stay strong. If I don't pack food when I am out, that probably means I can't eat. I just go with that.

The book sounds interesting. I am going to look it up. Thanks.

I am glad to see you back. :) This can e the time it sticks. ;)

The book has some good things. Weight loss is very mental game and the book helps you work on that.

I made my little card with my reasons to stick to it and put it in my phone/wallet case. I can't take out my cards or get on my phone without seeing it poking out of the back. They recommend reading it at least twice a day, so that's my plan.

That's a GREAT list! And a WONDERFUL place to put your mental focus, as opposed to the inconvenience of not grabbing snack junk food at the store, or saying no to certain dishes at a pot luck, or walking past the candy dish and doughnuts at work.

The other thing I would encourage you to do is research like crazy. The sticky at the beginning of this group is a great place to start, and there is something for every learning style. Great books, great blogs for the readers, and wonderful YouTube videos for those of us that need to watch and listen.

Knowledge is power, and you need to educate yourself thoroughly and make decisions based on that rather than cravings or social pressure or ____________ (you fill in the blanks).

    Good luck!

Nic, I pretty much have every keto book that's out there at this point (and yes, I've read them all). Researching like crazy is actually becoming counter-productive for me, as I start thinking I should change what I'm doing waaaaay too often!
