New Allergies?

Since I became menopausal, I have developed some strange new allergies. The biggest (and worst) was barley. I found out the hard way because even if I just had one beer, I would become violently ill. It took a while to figure out, because I started wondering if someone was slipping me a Mickey. Then, while on a weekend trip, I ate a barley salad and ended up in the ER (still didn't know why though). Had allergy testing and barley was the offender. So, quit drinking beer, right? Well yeah, but barley is processed in a lot of the same places as wheat. Before I figured that out, it lead to seizures. So now I can't eat wheat products either. Granted, I feel much better and the seizures have died down, but they triggered an official seizure disorder (awesome, right?) so now any time I feel a lot of stress, I have a seizure.
Then, about six months ago, I developed an allergy to the eye cream I've used for years. Clinique, which is supposed to be hypoallergenic.
Gyne says odd allergies are typical during menopause. But I haven't heard of anyone else getting them. Has anyone here had to deal with them?

I can't say I've noticed any new allergies - maybe it's something to look forward to (NOT!) in my near future!
I do have trouble wearing my contacts more than ever before. I'll have them in early in the day but have to take them out before noon (so I carry an extra pair of glasses). I've worn contacts since 5th grade. Now there's no rhyme or reason as to when and why they irritate my eyes so I'm blaming the hormones.0 -
I need to get glasses. Bifocals. #thestruggleisreal0

I have heard of menopause causing food allergies, didn't know that would extend to environmental allergies too...oh joy!0

My husband says it's all in my head always had allergies but I can't tolerate white flour and things I ate with no problem suddenly there is a problem. He blames it on the weight loss because he doesn't get how I could eat it a year ago and now I have a rash or whatever reaction I have. Though a few of the things I was always allergic too have seemed to disappear. It's like a trade off. I just take it one day at a time.0

@2020pinktogo My dad doesn't get it either. I told him things happen to women's bodies when we reach a certain age and hormones do things that he knows nothing about. Haha! But seriously, I see him 4 times a year and that's what he chooses to talk to me about. smh0
