When MFP doesn't match the website?

Hey everyone,

So today's question is what happens when you are getting a recipe off of Pinterest or like the other LC blogs etc that they will put up the carb count for the food, but if I enter the recipe into MFP it is coming up as something different. I am not sure what to do about that. Are one of them off or is it because MFP is user entries? I just want to be as accurate as I can. Help please

Thank you again.

What I do is printout the recipe off a website ...then enter the brands I have for the recipe on MFP and use that ..unless you have the exact brand or whatnot from the website it will be off ...I hope that helps

This is what I do too. I also tend to be a little skeptical of the nutrients listings on people's recipes. IDK why, just am. Trust issues maybe? Although some of them I can look at the ingredients and know that their nutritional information is way off. And on the other hand, what are these people using to calculate their nutritional info? I am not trying to take a dig at these people or anything because I am grateful for the recipes, just curious is all.

Is it a drastic change you are seeing or just off by a few? I try to make sure what I am entering matches the label also.

Enter the recipe yourself in your recipe builder.

Yeah it's because they might be using a different brand or something. i don't pay any attention to the nutritional information on the recipe, I add it all into MFP recipe builder and go with that.

I don't necessarily trust general nutritional data on a recipe, but be careful with MFP's recipe importer... sometimes it likes to go wonky on a measurement or ingredient (Especially banana!). You might enter 1 oz, but it will convert to 1 lb... huge difference if your talking butter lol.

Lol yes it can change things a little. I do use the recipe builder but I think I need to be more diligent about brands. I forget sometimes they are not all created equal.

    Thank you everyone!
