hello!~ I have my computer back, LOL... it's been a challenge for me over the last couple months and my weight and logging shows it, but I haven't thrown in the towel yet. As of yesterday, my steps for 2015 total 52,438. :) I've got a little catching up to do with some personal things but will try to get back here tomorrow

oh shoot... you want miles, not steps... let me pull that up
    1/1= 1.97
    1/2=1.43
    1/3=0.89
    1/4=2.09
    1/5=1.48
    1/6=1.38
    1/7=2.49
    1/8=1.39
    1/9=1.38
    1/10= 1.89 for a total of 16.39 miles

Busy weekend and crazy day at work today, but I managed to break 10,000 steps every day which is an improvement over my pre-holiday status. Saturday, I had another one of those spikes in my weight--not as high the one a little over a week ago, but depressing none the less. I decided to just forge ahead and today it was down about a pound. I be doggone if I'm going to let this go on. I'm really amped to watch my fat and sodium.

Welcome back, Light. I'm glad you had a nice visit with your Mom, but I'm happy that you're able to get back on the board.

You guys are sooo going to pass me by! My work has exploded, and I can't even find odd minutes to get up from this desk. I'm just popping over here to say this because I just looked at the clock and realized that I haven't moved since 9 a.m. The one Fed who gives me a little help has vanished. Yes. Vanished. He did not report to work and we haven't heard from him. Hmmmmmm.

I do, too (think it's kind of creepy.) He doesn't work as hard as he should and he finds lots of reasons to take leave, but all in all, I still like the guy and need him. It's not like him to not at least activate an out-of-office reply. Makes me wonder if he's ready to take another job. If so, I'm really in trouble because the big campaign is starting and there is no time to train anyone.

There's a little freezing rain tonight so my walking buddy didn't meet me, but I made it to the mall and got in my 10,000 steps. I realized that I was in a kind of "self pity" mood today and that's not a good spot for me. I think I'm just tired and stressed. The mall was quiet--probably because a lot of people did not want to go out in the cold tonight--so the walk was peaceful and it did me a lot of good. I'm going to head to bed soon, and I think I'll be ready to fight another day's battles in the a.m. :)

my steps are pitiful this week but I'm contributing them anyway :)
    Jan 11- 2.32
    Jan 12- 1.08
    Jan 13- 1.26
    Jan 14- 0.69
Jan 15- 0.26 (a whopping total of 662 steps! I think that is my lowest ever...)

That gives me a monthly total so far of 22 miles... you have all left me sitting in the dust. Keep it up, though

I can't believe I did this! For the first time since Jan 1, I didn't make my 10,000 daily steps. I had 9,981 steps around 11:45 and knew that I'd get the remainder easy. Then hubby asked me to sit down and watch a football play he recorded, so I did. I watch the five minute clip and dozed off. I woke up at 12:02 seeing zero steps. Rats!!

I guess this is a lesson not to get obsessive. Things are going to happen.

    Total Team Miles - 312.65
    Team Miles Left - 1703.35

I've been a bit under the weather and behind on entering mileage on the tracker. This could get beyond what I'm able to keep up with...but I'll keep it going as long as I can..

I'm thinking the same thing Lois. I've been given'r for a couple weeks now and yesterday was the first day I didn't make it to 5 miles. I got my 10,000 steps, but just barely. Doesn't help that it's been -40 outside.
We do what we can. Every step counts towards our final goals!

    Jan 13 = 5.22
    Jan 14= 4.25
    Jan 15 = 4.08
    Jan 16 = 4.02
    Jan 17 = 4.29
    = 21.86
    Total Jan 1-17 = 79.16 miles

That's not the 85 miles I had hoped for, but it's at least more than 4 miles a day, so I'm doing better than I did before the New Year.

I'm fighting what is probably a little bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Around January or February each year, I get a little "off." It used to be a lot worse. I've actually done very good the past couple of years. With me, it doesn't manifest as sadness--it comes out sideways as low level anger and discontent. If you ask my what I'm unhappy about, I couldn't tell you. It's not logical. It just is. So I'm soon off to run some errands. Maybe the fresh cold air will do me good.

We've also had a series of those little things go wrong. We call it "having the wheels fall off." LOL It's when a bunch of things in the house break or other minor problems pop up. In the past two days, I've had to move all my clothes out of my walk-in because we thought we had a dead mouse or squirrel in the attic above; the hinge on my medicine cabinet broke, and of course, it's not a typical cabinet sold in hardware stores; the ice maker on the fairly new fridge started sounding like an animal in pain; and something partially clogged a hose from the washing machine and it flooded part of the basement. These are minor irritants, but when you're already off-kilter. . .

Lois, here are my miles (posted already to the race site) since Jan 12:

    Jan 13: 5.77 miles
    Jan 14: 5.97
    Jan 15: 6.42
    Jan 16: 6.4
    Jan 17: 4.56

29.12 additional for a grand total of 75.46 miles.

You guys might have to carry me again Feb 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. . .I'll be traveling to grand babies again those days. It's funny how physically demanding it is, but with not many step or miles, lol.

Sarah - You sound very much like my Mom actually. She gets the exact same way with the SAD. I get it a little bit, but as long as I get some sunshine and it's not too gloomy outside for too long, I can snap out of it for a bit. Have you tried using one of those lights you can buy? My coworker uses one and swears it makes a difference.

My man and I are heading to Grand Forks, ND for a little getaway from Thursday to Saturday. His kids are heading to Mexico with their Mom, so it'll just be some alone time for the two of us. Sooooo looking forward to it. We're going to bring our gym clothes and motivate each other to get our steps in. Hopefully we can stick to it. He's a runner and I'd love to get to that point some day.

    Hi, Kelly,

How nice that your man is a runner. It helps to have others around who are active. My hubby moves around a lot naturally and has a job that lets him move around. When he is training people by phone, he walks around the whole time--can't stand to just sit and talk. But his neck and back problems make the type of walking I do hard for him. And I do think that part of it is that he finds my type of walking boring. He's busy pulling a generator out of the garage now to check it before the snow comes on Friday, and wrestling that thing has to be harder on his back than walking! LOL Thank goodness for my walking buddy. Knowing that I'm meeting her keeps me from finding excuses to stay in.

And regarding the SAD, I thought about the light therapy years ago before things got so much better. If I sense that the down moods are coming back more often or lasting longer, I will get one of those lights. Since I have to sit at a desk for hours anyway, why not sit by full-spectrum light? Fortunately, my home office is full of natural light, which--now that I think about it, may have helped. When I worked in the office, I had an office, thank goodness, and not a cubicle, and it did have a window, but it was one of those non-opening windows that is tinted.

Thinking about that office brings back one good memory, though. There was tree outside my window and one night, right at twilight, a huge owl was sitting in the tree. Because of the tinting on the window, he could not see in, but I could see out. It was amazing to see him so close. I'm sure that if he could have seen me, too, he would never have sat there--so for that, I'm grateful for those funky windows!

I know that a couple of you will laugh because your temps are lower, and a couple will laugh because you're basking in the warmth, but getting out tonight with actual temps in very low 20s and wind chills below zero was hard. But I did it. I didn't get there in time to get in my full 10,000 steps though. So I hit the treadmill for the last mile. Thursday night I have an appointment and won't get to walk in the mall at all, so the treadmill will have to do that day. I hope work allows me to get most of my steps in before I head out the door. And then a big snow storm is moving in and so it looks like I'll be stuck at home on Saturday. Hubby is working on a way to get the TV from the bedroom into the sitting room without having to pay for yet another cable box.

Good gracious, it's quarter of midnight. The campaign is starting in a few days and work is already gearing, so I'd better hit the bed.

Light and Lois, hope you're both feeling better.

Man oh man, couple the day I left my fitbit on the charger all day with the day I had to work lots of overtime and it took a chunk out of my totals. But here goes:

    Jan 18 - 4.62
    Jan 19 - 4.25
    Jan 20 - 4.14
    Jan 21 - 0.71 (fitbit on charger)
    Jan 22 - 1.27
    Jan 23 - 5.23
    Jan 24 - 4.54

    24.72miles for a grand total of 103.88

I got in 5.19 miles last night on the TM, so at least I have a good start on this week. Next week, my numbers will probably be low, as I'll be in the car about 3-4 hours each day, plus working long hours at the conference. Yuck! But I do have to make a living. :/

More than 9 miles in a day--WOW Kelly! You are really rocking it. :)

I'm still snowbound and work is picking up, although it's not insane yet, as our ads have only been running two days. I ended the workday again yesterday with few steps at all, but managed to get almost 12,000 steps (11,993) in on the TM by bedtime. You would think the opposite, but I find that TM walking causes me more knee discomfort than walking on concrete floors in the mall. Go figure.
