I am on my 3rd day doing the "Egg Fast" and it is going surprisingly well. I am planning on doing it for 5 days total. So far I am down 4 pounds and that is making me smile as I have stalled for awhile now!
I had been reading about the "Fat Fasts" but knew I could not be one to just drink BPC for 3-5 days...lol
So this is working. Here is a link that give can give you some more details and ideas if you are interested

@esaucier17 There are a ton of "Fat Fast" recipes out there. You don't just have to have BPC. I've done it a couple of times and it was suprisingly easy. (in case you're interested.)

Thank you....I will check them out. This one is good for me because I love eggs! So far.....after day 5 I might hate them..lol

Thanks for the info! I've done my own version of fat/egg fasts twice now (each for 2 days, though the second round was 1000-cal and 1100 cal, nothing too low) and it did seem to help get the weight loss kick-started again.

I totally lost my taste for BPC. I'm not sure what happened. I made some during my first fat fast, took a sip, tried to like it, and threw the rest out. I'd had it before and liked it well enough but now it just seems so greasy to me. I even lost my taste for coconut oil in general! Sad. I do eat my fat bombs still sometimes but I don't love them.

I agree. I had the BCP's. Few times but don't like them! I haven't tried any fat bombs yet. I was just reading some other info in fat fasts. I found some where you can eat bacon, eggs, avocadoes, cream cheese, fat bombs, heavy cream, butter, other cheeses, sugar free jello with whipped heavy cream....etc...
Like you did, I read you should stay between 1000-1200 calories and less than 10 carbs and around 100 or more grams of fat.

So I'm on my second day of this. I have no clue how I could limit my calorie intake on this diet. I've dropped 4 lbs so far. We will see.

Awesome! It does work! I have lost 7lbs in 5 days. Around 1200 caloties per day.

If you end up finding you need fewer calories you can just put less coconut oil and butter in the coffee. I've never followed the "recipe" exactly because of the calorie count. I can have 2 cups with my amounts and be under 300 calories and that's even adding heavy cream too.

Oh wow, I'm going to try this at some point, I love eggs so will be perfect for me. I'm new to low carb at the moment and not being so strict over Christmas but will be going low carb in earnest in the new year. This sounds like something to keep in reserve for my plan if I start stalling and need to kick-start (which I expect I will, my body does like to plateau on diets).

@melmerrit33, I believe the chronic inflammation from fibro causes these stalls for us! Knowing they will happen is a huge part of the battle!

I've been dabbling in Intermittent fasting (sort of 20:4, 20 hours of nothing but coffee with hwc until supper time, then eating LCHF foods during a 4 hour window), but the egg fast intrigues me too! I do like eggs so I may give this a try!

I had no idea that my condition could be part of the cause, that really helps me not feel so bad the stalls! I've heard of intermittent fasting but worried that I'd get too hungry during the fasting phase but maybe the new low carb diet will help with that too.

It will help! You will find yourself in "Unhungry Land" very quick after going full out LCHF! I'm excited for you to feel this too @melmerrit33!!

So I thought what made this work was the fat to carb to protein ratio. It won't mess things up by halving up the butter or oil?

No, it's not about the ratios, it's about the amounts of carbs and proteins (which affects insulin and fat-adaptation) ... so adjusting fat-only foods will just affect calories.

This is day three for me. I'm cutting the oil and butter in half. It's only breakfast and I'm at 715 calories. After my coffee and eggs. I'm down .8 lbs than yesterday. So we will see how this goes! Thanks for everyone's help.

As long as you're still experiencing good appetite control with the breakfast, you don't have to get all that fat in just the coffee. I started out like that too and couldn't figure out how to stay within a decent calorie limit the rest of the day. Then I realized I could just reduce the coffee calories and still get a good start on my fats and hunger control for the day.

Yeah, I didn't go too crazy with a high-calorie coffee either.

Day 4: I thought I'd be sick of eggs by now but I'm so happy with the results! I'm down another lb. this morning I didnt add as much fat in my coffee or eggs to decrease my cal count. Today is my birthday and I am 2 lbs away from being what I weighed when I found out I was pregnant which was about 6 weeks along! I'm super siked about getting closer to my goal and in 12 more lbs I'll have a normal bmi!!! I owe it to this group!

I lost several pounds on an egg fast a few months ago and gained about half of them back within the next week, even though I transitioned slowly back into regular LCHF. Just be aware that this can happen. It still broke my stall! :)

Yes....I read to be careful when going off to slowly add back more carbs or you can gain it back. I am now doing eggs still for breakfast and maybe one for a snack and low carb chili for lunch, half avocado for snack and maybe a meat (wings) and a fat (ranch dressing) for dinner. And still plenty of water. And I found in between meals I might have some broth for the extra sodium.

I saw someone did it for a whole month and lost like 27 pounds! I don't know if I could do it that long nor would that be healthy to do!

That is great! I though I would be sick of them too but I am not. I made another batch of hardboiled eggs last night to have on hand for snacks and egg salad. I still had a cheese egg omelet for breakfast today. I am so glad it's working for you also!

If anyone is on Facebook, there's a group there called egg fast break stall, which is dedicated to the egg fast.
It should still be there, I haven't been on Facebook for a couple of years.

I hope I don't have a huge rebound effect. I eat really low carb (less than 10 a day) when I'm not doing the egg thing so I'm hoping that helps. I did low carb for about 3 years and I would just be strict when I needed to be. However I didn't feel it would be healthy to do that pregnant so I gained 80 lbs. so basically I had to start all over again.

And I totally could do this for a month but I won't cause I believe your right about if being unhealthy.

I'm going to try this. My weightloss has sputtered to a halt. I also have fibro, didn't know that could affect weightloss. This might just be the kick in the pants my metabolism needs. Like HFlippin2015, I eat super low carbs (less than 15 daily). I've been bobbing around -43 lbs for too long.

    A note for your co-workers:

A word of caution: If you are not already fat adapted and are eating hundreds of grams of carbs per day in your diet, you may not want to embark on an egg fast until you’ve been in ketosis for awhile. Jumping right in can make you feel really lousy, and may even be dangerous if you have other health conditions. Consider trying my 3 Day Keto Kickstart first and see how you do before trying something as low carb and high fat as this egg fast.

This is from the link posted above: http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2014/07/egg-fast.html

I hear so often from people who say they've tried keto and it didn't work for them. It would be unfortunate if your co-workers thought this didn't work because they tried something their body isn't ready for...
