Hey everyone!
Sherry - still keeping my fingers crossed that the ibuprofen starts to help with your issue! And congratulations on getting everything organized! That has to feel so good!
Laura - It sounds like there's hope that you're through the worst of it! Hopefully it will just get better for you everyday!
Marla - How many grandkids do you have? Do they live nearby? My grandparents and parents live near to us so we all have Christmas together which is nice. As well as my sister and my nephews.
Well, my run did go quite well! Instead of 14 miles, I did 15.5. Also, I tried a new route along the canal. Which apparently is made up of large and loose gravel, steep climbs, washed out areas, etc. Basically, I did a 15 mile trail run. I had to walk the last mile as I was pretty much done by then. But I'm feel pretty good! I started to feel really weird half way through the day, but went out to eat with my kiddos and ate quite a bit (with no regrets) and felt massively better. I hadn't felt like eating much right after so I'd been drinking some protein drinks and eating bits every hour or so but it probably wasn't enough to keep up with over 3 hours of running.
Church is today, going to work on getting the house picked up and back into order again and to finish the laundry. That's the peak of my motivations for today. No more school for two weeks and it's still supposed to be in the fifties and sixties so I can now run at a reasonable time instead of 5 am. Looking forward to sleeping in a bit and not having to get all the kids ready and out the door every day! Yay!
Merry Christmas everyone!0 -
I went for a run and not sure what went wrong, but something did. Maybe not enough calories. Maybe not enough hydration. Maybe just one of those days. I was aiming for 5 - 5.5 miles. I did an out & back and turned around at 2.85 because it was a good turning spot, figuring that would leave me a little cooldown walk. Shortly after the turnaround I started getting a stomach ache. I stopped & rested for a bit, then ran a bit more, then stopped, then started, etc. I started really feeling icky so I checked & my HR was 198. Not sure if that was true, but when I felt my pulse at my neck it was awfully fast. I was not running fast and I was going up a hill, but not a big hill. I was at 59 minutes & a few seconds so I ran to 60 minutes and then stopped. By then I had a really bad stomachache, but my HR dropped very quickly to 135. I pulled off my fuelbelt, which felt like it was digging into my stomach, and walked the rest of the way to my car. With all the stops I ran 4.62 miles and walked another 1.08 in 81 minutes. It was warmer than yesterday but damp so I was freezing by the time I got to my car. I found a little snack bar in my car so I ate that right away & drank some water. Went to the gas station & Walmart (which was surprisingly quiet -- maybe because it was during the Vikings/Bears game?) and Walgreens. Ended up buying a bottle of Muscle Milk at Walgreens & drinking that on the drive home.
Val someday I will run that far. I'm jealous! Happy for you it went well. It sounds like a challenging route too.0 -
Laura i have times i can feel my body telling me something is off when i am exercising. Its good you listen.
Val, i have 4 grandkids, 2 from each daughter. One had them young so they are teens, others 8 & 10. Then my hubby has 3 grandkids from first wife, he is older than me so they are all in 20's. And oldest had kids young so he has 3 great grandkids. I told him i am not ready for that! Lol
Mike just reconnected with his grand daughter. His older daughter and him don't get along so grand daughter got in the middle. Mike spent his life trying to help daughter but she pushed him away. Was raised by his ex who didn't make her go to school and used drugs. This was long time ago when men couldn't get custody no matter what woman did.
She has a major weight problem and he tried to help and gave up, the fight happened when she overfed the grandkids and they are very overweight and one has diabetes now. He got so angry he had to stay away.
The grand daughter he reconnected with put herself through school and lost weight.
Okay thats my personal saga....
