Hi all..
I have been lurking since late October, and now is the time to show my face! You guys have been a fantastic fount of knowledge and inspiration for me since I began this WOE.
I have been on MFP for quite some time and have lost nearly 25 pounds this year. (8 of those pounds are the result of Keto.) I stumbled upon low carb/keto by accident. In an effort to speed up a very, very slow metabolism, I decided to cut carbs just to see if that might move things along. In doing so, the inflammation/pain in my knees suddenly disappeared! Imagine my surprise! I know that I have tears in the meniscus, but if I can manage the inflammation with my diet and continue to exercise wisely, there is no way I am going to opt for the arthroscopic surgery to repair.
From reading everything on the Launch Pad to following the links given by many of you, I have learned so much. I am coming out of my hiding place to personally thank all of you who make this group a warm, caring and nonjudgmental environment.
Happy New Year!
Connie

Hi Connie! I also found LC by accident when my significant other was advised to do Atkins by his doctor. And boy was I surprised when all kinds of things changed for the better for me too.0

Welcome, @lovesretirement! I haven't been on here in a while, but I'm excited to dive back in. I love that Keto is doing wonders to quell inflammation in your knees. I've seen a strong link between cutting carbs and reducing inflammation in my body, too. This is a welcoming, peaceful and well-informed community, and I think you'll be a great addition. Happy 2016!0
