Hi! My name is Sandie. I'm 50 years young. Ten years ago I lost my left ovary due to a twisted ovary. Two years later i had a hysterectomy but they left my remaining right ovary. Two weeks ago on Christmas eve I had to go to the ER for terrible abdominal pains. I told the doctor I had another twisted ovary. There was no mistaking that pain! He told me after an xray and labs that I was just constipated. I went home and 24 hours later I was in way worse shape. I went back to THE Er and told them I had a twisted ovary and that I had been misdiagnosed the day before. I even went so far as to tell the doctor if he would only do a CT scan he'd find a mass in my stomach. He reordered the blood work and ordered a CT scan. He came back and said he viewed the CT scan and although he had to wait for the official word from the radiologist to read it but there was a mass in my lower right side. Once he got the radiologist report he came in and told me I needed to see a surgeon and I needed to see one tonight. They transferred me to another hosptial as they were not capable of handling this type of emergency. I ended up in the operating room on Christmas day. The final diagnosis was a twisted ovary that ruptured. Because of the delay in my diagnosis it ruptured and caused me all kinds of problems and required 8 pints of blood transfused during the surgery. Now I'm in medical menopause and have no idea what to expect? It's been almost two weeks and so far I'm not experiencing any issues. I'm hoping I'll be like my mother who said she never experienced a single solitary symptom. Her menopause was natural and gradual instead of instant like mine.

Any info would be apreciated! Thanks!

    Welcome!!
What a saga. I had to be in the ER on thanksgiving once. Not the best crew that night. So sorry for all of that!

You may have no issues like your mom. LUCKY her!
Or you may have any number of symptoms.

This website is my favorite starting point:
    http://www.34-menopause-symptoms.com

My primary symptoms throughout are dizziness, insomnia and brain fog. Not the usual hotflashes etc.

I find that eating lower carb and slower carb helps with symptoms. And off and on I've used bioidentical progesterone, which helps me sleep.

I really have to watch the scale now too. Alas.

    Again, welcome!
