Yes, but shouldn't I be tracking everything?

*sigh*

I am a nerd. I love, LOVE tracking data! When I started using MFP, I jumped in with both feet. It helped me to better understand what I was eating. As I watched how what I ate affected my body, mind and spirit, I learned to tweak my choices.

Sometimes I just make crap choices. I tracked those as well. Then at the end of the day...judgement, regret, and oh-what-the-heck! Start all over again tomorrow. Skip eating tomorrow. Maybe the next day too. Get back on track, until the afternoon, when a crashing blood sugar would take control of the car and I'd be In-n-Out real fast.

I spent too much time tracking, then got mired in analysis paralysis. Then I quit everything. And then, my health got worse.

I must find the happy balance. So I'm just going to try looking at my plate, and then fill it up with what's right for my body. At least half will be vegetables, two or three kinds. A quarter will be protein, because I find it to be delicious! And some healthy fats to fill in the rest. Three meals a day, plus a small snack before bed.

I wish MFP just had a yes/no option next to the meals. Then I could just tick "yes" next to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I wouldn't have to write it all down.

What I'm shooting for here is to be consistent with my nutrition. Regular meals, adequate nutrients. It's about taking care of me. Tracking was a tool that helped do that at one point. It doesn't any longer.
