Hi, all! I'm on here late and thought I would catch up on everyone's conversation. Where is it?

Anyway, thanks @MrsVelapanur, for getting this week's thread started. Last week went okay for me, not great. Over-ate some days but did well on my walking. I know I need to stay within in my calorie limit and the holidays are over, BUT a relative passed away last night, and my family takes this as yet another occasion to get together with tons of food. I am going to have to demonstrate some self-restraint.

I have been struggling with what we suspect is seasonal asthma so training has been frustrating this week. I really want to push hard but if I do, I can't breathe. Finally saw doctor today and got a pump so we will see how things go tonight.

Eating has been OK, but I want to get to lower carbs than I have been eating.

Hi everyone! This week my goal is not to exceed my calorie plan even one day. Yesterday my sister insisted we go out for lunch to celebrate my birthday from two weeks ago. I ordered well but fell for the bread and butter, the shared desserts and it was at a winery so I had more than one glass. Tomorrow is my younger son's 25th birthday and relatives are in from out of town so out to dinner we go. We will be eating late and going right to bed when we get home. These are my challenges and learning to fit them into my healthy new life is not that easy . . . my family is not skinny and loves to eat for every occasion. I do too! Luckily I am not on a stringent time line for losing weight; trying to hit one pound a week average. Wishing you all a happy day and great week!

Work is still work picking up extra shifts again this week too :# But somehow we are still at the Crazy is out for 2 weeks the time hasn't decreased. Who knows who cares.

I stayed within my calories never went over.
Now exercise Oh I'm in a challenge where I have to exercise 20 min a day and literally that's what I'm down too. I'm soooo tired.

My goal this week is to take down the Xmas tree it's an artificial. My hubby is using it as a night light to greet me at night. He would keep it up forever him and the dog love it. It does make me smile when I come in and see it but It's got to come down. LOL

I am back at work today after being out since Wednesday. Apparently my students forgot how the class rules in my absence and were banshees while my assistant and I were out. Not how I wanted to start my Monday. Oh well.

I am down three pounds this past week and I look forward to getting some exercise this week and helping that along even more. I am hoping to get to a barre class tomorrow after work, as I have a meeting this afternoon and won't be able to go. Also, I'd like to see my trainer on Wednesday, if I am up for it. I am still recovering from this stupid cold.

My goal this week is to exercise in any amount.

@2020pinktogo I thought I was the only one who still had a tree up! Planned to take everything down this weekend but after a 60+ hour week I didn't get to it. My husband said he doesn't really mind, kind of likes it as our family room looks so pretty and festive. My plan is to do a little each night and finish this coming weekend.

I haven't had to take down my Christmas tree for the past couple of years because I never got around to putting it up. :) I haven't been home Christmas day either though. My goal for 2016 is to celebrate Christmas at home!!! I'll have a tree, other festive decor, and a balance of holiday goodies and healthy food. I will also be slim enough to participate in holiday photo opportunities! It's not a dream; it's my goal.

We put our holiday stuff away this past Saturday and it was kind of sad. Back to regular life, as usual. Usually, January drags for me but I can't believe it's already the 11th. I have a lot to accomplish this month at work so I feel like the clock is ticking.

Well, so far this week, I've exercised and stayed within my calories. However, I haven't been eating the same foods as usual and it's showing on the scale. Funny how that works. (Not gaining, but not losing.) Will drink a bit more water today and try to eat more normally. Just been a busy week already.

Ugh we got snow so I had to shovel the driveway this morning. I knew it was only a matter of time but anyway I'm not a lover of snow. LOL

Feeling blah. Not feeling the motivation to stay on track. I hope it passes soon. I think doing the 10K made me feel like it's over, I did it, now what? I need another goal.

After a week of not exercising, I am going to take a barre class this afternoon. I can definitely tell that I haven't exercised in awhile...my mind is all over the place and I'm not sleeping very well. The physical activity usually keeps me grounded. I was going to jump right back into my routine of being at the gym early in the morning but I am still feeling tired and getting over this cold. I hope to restart my full routine by next week.

@NewOR2015 - I think it's the season. It's kind of a blah time of year. What kind of goal are you thinking about?

I just need something to work toward. Last summer I knew I needed to lose weight so that I would be more comfortable during my Boston trip in the fall. After that trip, I walked more and more so that I would be ready to walk across the causeway (10K) this past weekend. Now, I'm thinking I need my new goal...a trip, an occasion, a new outfit, something that's not too far off. Closer to summer, I know will want to work harder to stun my doctor at my annual physical in July. Right now, there's nothing I'm looking forward to, no reason to push myself to get to a better place at the moment. It's the season, the weather, the "I want to just hibernate 'til the spring". It's funny because I was so excited about 2016 right before the new year thinking this was going to be the best year ever. That was just a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks more, I will be re-energized and ready to go for it again!

I know we're in the heart of winter but Spring Break or for those who celebrate Easter it's only 10 weeks away. Yippee Spring . . . only 12 days of January have passed so if we haven't done our best it's ok. Maybe we can look through our closets or a magazine a pick out a cute little number that will fit us then. No dull drums for this group, we are awesome!

@Living360 Okay, I'll start looking around tomorrow for something that I really like and that will keep me motivated on my weight loss journey. Until then, I'll just keep saying...We are awesome. We are awesome. We are awesome.

@NewOR2015 - I totally believe in having goals to motivate you. I have a whole variety of them going all the time, short, medium and long term goals. Examples are events I want to take part in, techniques I want to master/improve, times or distances that I can run/swim/rollerblade, belts in martial arts (working towards blue in BJJ and yellow in Judo and hope to get them this year!), weight related, etc. That way when you reach a goal, you celebrate but carry on as you still have other goals to reach.

@MrsVelapanur - I am the same. When I can't train for some reason, everything is just wrong and life seems out of order somehow. While you are getting over the last of this cold, I would go ahead with my normal routine, but train at a much lower intensity. In the past, I use those times to focus on technique or at keeping my heart rate within a specific zone. In fitness class, I explain to the trainer what I am doing and they are always supportive.

I've got a 6 hr drive again to my aunt's funeral today. Plenty of time to think about my new goals...short, medium, long. I'll check in this evening.

    Happy Wednesday!

I made it through a barre class yesterday afternoon and I felt so ungraceful at first. Being out for a week, I feel like I am starting over. I had taken three classes before this and had the routine and moves down a bit. I didn't feel like that yesterday. I do know that I am not entirely better yet so I won't be too hard on myself.

Right now I have to take progesterone to get a menstrual cycle because I have PCOS and don't get a regular cycle without intervention with medication or birth control. This is something else I have been frustrated with for a long time. The main remedy for PCOS is metformin (a diabetes medication) and birth control pills, neither of which I wish to take. I refuse to take a medication if I am not insulin resistant and my blood work says so. I am done with the pill because I have taken it for so long and it turned me into a crazy person. Anyway, I am annoyed because my weight is up and I am pretty sure it is because of the progesterone. Damn it.

@MrsVelapanur I have confidence you'll find a diet that will help you stabilize your health and let you lose the weight you want. Often we have no control over how fast things happen, but we can control doing our best each day. On the tough days count your blessings and be happy we can start again tomorrow.

I had plenty of time to do some thinking about goals today but didn't do it. I did, however, turn down food a few times and went for a walk. Plus, just now got on the Gazelle for 20 minutes. I exceeded my calories by only a little. Overall, not a bad day.

Well done, as long as you see the positives in the day, it is a step towards the goal!

I had a crazy day yesterday. Pulling extra duties because people are away (and they all have to be done during the same time period that I would normally do just my job!) and of course we add on crises like snake cutting itself on a branch so it needs to go to the vet for super glue and a sick intern. Woke up an hour earlier for some reason so by the time I got to bjj I was really tired (which is good for competition prep!) It was all loads of fun and I pushed hard in some of the rounds, but know I wasn't at my best. Still, time on the mats is what counts and I benefit from it even when I'm tired. Today is going to be busy as well, although I would really like to get down to the beach with my friend at lunchtime...

@CaptainBoing I'll think of you on the beach and think really warm thoughts when I'm shoveling my driveway again. :) The only good thing about it is it burns a ton of calories. Today is my day off the weather is miserable so i'm going to do all my chores and take down the tree. Granted I have a dog lying under it right now and making me feel guilty but today is the day.

I will be taking down my mother's tree today too. No shoveling snow though. Today's high will be 73ºF. It snowed in Brownsville, TX on Christmas Day 2005. That made national news. The previous snowfall had been in 1895.

It snowed in Johannesburg when I was a kid. It was amazing! That is the only time it has ever snowed at whatever place I call home. In winter people from my current town drive for hours just to get to see snow! Personally, I'd rather be covered in beach sand like I was today. I never got around to putting up my tree, so nothing to take down! I am however looking forward to next week when I finally get a break. Today I was exhausted! Heading to bed soon as I have early fitness class...

I am thankful it is almost the weekend...and a three day weekend at that. I am over my cold but I have a lot of fatigue right now, which is probably left over from being sick and/or a side effect of the progesterone. My weight is stuck but I am sure it will drop off, as I am keeping my nutrition in check. I did a barre workout at home yesterday. I will go to a class today, though. I feel like I need a do over for January!

I would love a do over! January has not been what I expected at all! But, that's okay. We know not to dwell on the past (can't change that). Let's just do better today and tomorrow and so on.

I woke up this morning feeling pretty good. I think it was because I slept well after being more active yesterday.

I am exhausted today so I really need to squeeze in a nap. Time is catching up with me. How come when you lose weight all your flaws seem to pop out? it seems my varicose veins were hidden behind the fat. And I have more wrinkles too. Oy men have it so easy they grow a beard and hide half their face and a suit covers everything. LOL
