Well what the heck! lol I went up, but I'm still not discouraged. I've been eating a lot of fruits and vegetables lately, which has made me feel super bloated. I drank a crap load of water yesterday because the day before was my drive 8 hours day, and I never drink very much for that drive. (Small bladder syndrome lol) Also I was hungry before bed, so I had some more veggies plus a green tea. I weighed myself at 4:45 this morning when I went to the gym.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Sarah - Did you find your coworker? Great job on still making it to the mall, despite not having a walking buddy!

Not a lot of progress, but I entered the new year at 147.2, so it's a little progress in the right direction.

4:45 a.m. to the gym? Wow, Kelly! I really want to start getting activity in before work, too, but I have my days and nights turned around. I think it's because it's around 8:30 or 9 p.m. before I get back from walking, and if I go to bed at 11, I feel like I have no evening. So I've been going to bed at 1 a.m. and getting up at 7 or 7:30, since I have a 7 second commute!

That's going to make getting up and leaving the house at 5 a.m. the first week in February very uncomfortable unless I start edging my way up earlier between now and then.

I don't know why my coworker didn't check in by e-mail yesterday or respond to my text, but he's back today. He said that he had to go back to the doctor yesterday. On Friday, he had pain that he thought might be gall bladder. It was not, but they haven't determined the cause yet. At least he's all right.

Well at least he's okay. Rather irritating when someone does that, as I don't think they quite understand that people worry. Or maybe they just don't care.

Yep.. 4:45am. I start work at 6:45am and meet my coworkers for breakfast at 6:00am. So I actually wake up at 4:45am, then it takes me 5 or 10 minutes to actually get ready and go down the stairs to our gym. I try to get in 20-30 minutes of walking. It helps me wake up, plus it gives me a few minutes to check the updates on my phone of Facebook, MFP, my hockey pool, Instagram, etc lol It's become a routine of mine. Then I get showered and ready, eat breakfast and we're walking to work by 6:25am.

Sleep it super important, so don't try squeeze in more than you can. When I stay up too late, I don't even attempt to wake up early, as I know I need my sleep. I get cranky without the proper amount.

Not a lot of progress... but at least it's still going down!

Well, it's better than the 133 I weighed on the day after my return from my trip, but I guess it will take another week to get back into the 120's.

Kelly, you are a very strong woman! Getting up SO early to walk on the TM, AND walking in such cold temps to work! Kudos to you :)

Progress is progress, Sarah. The numbers are moving in the right direction. Good job..

For some reason, the photo I see when I look at my MFP profile never shows up here. I'm a sad little box with an X :D I may unjoin and rejoin to see if that makes a difference.

I've developed a pretty intense rash under my Fitbit band, so I've had to switch arms today. Every now and then, I'd also have a reaction to my BodyBugg and my BodyMedia. I clean my band with a facial wipe, but maybe I need to try the Cetaphil that they recommend. I keep it pretty loose, so it's not friction.

It was another busy day at work, but not so stressful as yesterday. I have my weekly phone call with a gal I'm mentoring at 6, and I hope to also get to the mall to walk tonight. I see that Lois passed me with nary a wave! LOL

It's still very cold here today. I don't think it got out of the 20s. In a way, I like this. though. I like the seasons, and I even like a little cold weather. It was so weird back in December when our temps hit the mid 70's. There's nothing like the feeling of being out in the cold and then coming in to get warm! Light and Lois, I know you probably feel otherwise. LOL I probably do look pretty silly though when I race into the mall. I don't want to wear a coat, so I just run from my car like a wild turkey!

Sarah - I've never had a problem with the band giving me a rash, but I see a lot of other people do. It might need to be cleaned more often for you. Let me know if the Cetaphil helps.

You know what's frustrating... weighing 0.5 more in one day. UGH! I know it's not that big of a deal and it's probably just salt or something, but I worked my butt off yesterday with the treadmill, plus weights and this morning my weight is up. SOOOO frustrating :s Ah well.. I'll keep plugging along. Got my morning treadmill walk/run out of the way.

I often shoot up even one or two pounds for a day and have to fight the depression/anger that is my immediate reaction. Then I recognize that's just how my body fluctuates. I've also heard that when you stress muscles the body holds extra fluid around the minute tears for a short time. I still the remember that day week before last when I suddenly went up almost three pounds and about had a heart attack. That was after a day that I did really good with both intake and activity. The important thing is that we keep plugging away. :)

And about the photo--maybe it's good that I'm sad little X since this is an open forum and I often bellyache about my job!

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. My calorie goal when I look at goals is 1230. That's what MFP determined for me when I indicated my desired weight loss. Yet the goal for the day in my food dairy changes every day. Yesterday, it said my intake goal was more than 2,000 calories. Why doesn't it stay at 1230?

Also, FYI, with Fitbit, late in the afternoon yesterday, if I chose to hard sync, it would say that more than one tracker was found, and it made me log in using my e-mail and password. That's never happened before. I checked the community forum there and found a number of people saying they were also suddenly having this problem, so at least I know that once again, I'm not special! But it certainly is aggravating. Have any of you had this happen and how long did it take for them to get it fixed?

With FitBit, your calorie intake will change based on your exercise activity level. It's one thing I had a hard time getting used to. Honestly, for all my numbers, I mostly just look at MFP. If I know I can only eat a certain number of calories a day, I stick to it the same everyday and don't change it if I work out more. Not sure if that answers your question.

I've never had that particular problem, but what I can suggest is for you to call FitBit's customer service because they are awesome and will help you immediately. I usually don't like talking to people on the phone, but they are so polite, friendly and eager to make things right for you.

It's MFP that is showing the inflated calories, not Fitbit. I don't log any food in Fitbit because of the group's suggestion to only log food in MFP. So it seems that my activity if being brought into MFP from Fitbit.

I got an e-mail from Fitbit and they asked for a screen shot, which I sent to them. I don't know why because I fully explained the issue in words and based on the number of items about this I found in Fitbit Community, I don't think it's a new problem. If I don't get it resolved by e-mail, I will call though. Nice to know that customer service is good. BodyMedia had friendly folks, but they didn't seem very knowledgeable.

I'm going to have a hard time walking tonight. I have a birthday party tonight, and I have to go out after work and pick up the cake. I also have some volunteer work scheduled--and I still haven't logged out of paid work, although I'm pretty much DONE!! It's almost 6 o'clock and my brain and back have had it!

in MFP under settings...locate calorie adjustments ... be sure Enable Negative Adjustments is not clicked so it doesn't add back in the burned calories... that may help

I have not had the Fitbit experience you've outlined before. Sorry not helpful

Well, I worked all day until six without a break, jumped up and changed clothes and headed out for our nighttime commitments. I thought there was no way I'd make 10,000 steps. We got in at 10:02 and raced to the living room to watch Top Chef.

I'm not set up now to watch television on the TM without a little work to bring it in from the master bedroom to the adjacent sitting room, and we didn't have time. So I was thinking about NOT making at least 10,000 steps for the first time since Jan 1. You know the drill. You start telling yourself that you deserve one night off because you worked so hard today, yadayadayada. And then I thought--NO. I will do it. So I walked in place, I walked all through house during commercials, and it took me until midnight, but I got in 10,463 steps!

I'm still way behind some of you, but I feel good about doing this tonight. Well, it's not "tonight" any more. It's 12:30 a.m. and so I have to hit the bed. :)

I was actually amazed that I did it. At one point, I was jogging in place because I had several hundred steps to go and only 15 minutes left in the day. I was huffing and puffing, but when I felt that vibration, it was all worth it. Then I hit the peanut butter around 1 a.m. The food at the party was awful, so I only ate a small serving of some sirloin dish and a small piece of cake. By 1 a.m., my blood sugar was bottoming out, and I was searching through the kitchen for anything quick--which turned out to be pita chips and peanut butter. Now today, I have to hold fat and calories way down.

Well at one point this past week I was over 208 so I am super happy this morning.!! Sarah - I am happy to report that most of us have done that jogging in place to get the 10k...or Sheesh, Cheryl and I when we're in the midst of a challenge to get ahead or maintain our leads. Buahaha. I think our hubby's now know when the race is on...we're all pacing. It's a good addictive habit.

I am back with my food coach so hoping to see progress. This first week has been brutal... And I haven't been as faithful as I had in the past...but I'm also not feeling 100%. Something is going around...hubby's had it and I'm attempting to avoid catching it.

I got my hike in and it was fun. But then I was WIPED OUT when I was done. Showered and climbed into bed and then realized I had defrosted fish that had to be cooked. Out of bed and downstairs. I baked the fish instead of grilling and sat on the couch and perused FB for far too long. Haha.

I have a busy weekend with lots of commitments as well as putting Christmas away. Working on my meal plan to survive our parties.

If you gals see me slipping...I am really requesting to have you put me back in my place. Not looking for empathy or sympathy or words that it's ok...really feel like I've become complacent with life's challenges and slippages. Life is ALWAYS going to throw a curve ball at me...so please, I'm asking you for assistance in staying the course.

    New Year - BETTER ME!!

New Year, better US!! We're in this together, Lois. I'll nudge you and you can return the favor.

I'm getting pretty frustrated with this bouncing around in the same 3-4 pounds. I would just say that this is what I can do, but I know that's not true. I managed to be 22 pounds less than this just 5 years ago. That's right. I pulled out my datebooks for 2010, and I weighed 128.5 on Christmas Eve of that year--down from 156 in March. So I can do it. The frustration is that I didn't stay at that weight for very long, and I kept finding "spots" a little higher and a little higher where I'd get hung up. When I had to switch over to BodyMedia in July 2013, I weighed 142.0. The lowest weight I've achieved since was 140.8 on July 25, 2013. And then the upward creep started in earnest, and I've been in the mid to high 140s every since. That's more than two years. It's unacceptable to me.

I tried a little jogging on the treadmill day before yesterday. I know the retina guy said to be careful about pounding on hard surfaces, but geez... If nothing changes, nothing changes.

Reading all the posts, we all seem motivated! Let's keep it going SNS's!

Lois, that's a good loss. . stay the course. For, me, getting in the groove is hard, but once there for a week or two, it's a bit easier to stay in the groove. Another thing that has helped me is to just IMMEDIATELY get back to it after a slip. I used to think "well, I blew it, so to heck with the rest of the day (or week or month, lol)." Persistence is better than perfection, as my trainer used to say.

Kelly, I'm so happy you joined the team! Your steps are amazing!

Sarah, MFP adds calories to compensate for exercise. I know a lot of people who do "eat back" their exercise calories and still lose weight. MFP has set your calories at 1230 based on your gender, age, etc. so that you will lose at the rate you set regardless of exercise. Some say you should eat those calories back (of course, healthy food) in order to maintain lean body mass and energy levels. I try to not eat them, but some days I'm really hungry (exercise makes me hungry) so I sometimes will eat more.

It sounds like you've been bitten by the Fitbit bug, haha! Lois is right that we have all caught that bug, and have been known to do crazy things to get that wonderful little buzz on the wrist! Welcome :) And please join us in a challenge soon. . They are fun.

Maybe it's the cold weather. Maybe it's that there's so much uncertainty at work with my one helper having health problems and no team leader yet. Maybe it's none of these. But I felt pretty good about yesterday and then weighed this morning, and overnight I gained a pound. Yes, I know it's water weight probably, but the problem is not really that pound. It's that that pound represents my being stuck, bobbing up and bit, or down a bit, but not really making progress.

We are going out tonight with a small group of friends to try a different Thai restaurant. I should be looking forward to that, but instead I'm dreading entering my closet trying to decide what to wear. Since I don't need work clothes, don't like to shop, and don't want to spend money on the size of clothing I wear now, most of what is there is too tight. I got rid of bigger things, thinking that would be motivation! So now, every time I venture out of my jeans and yoga pants . . .

I need to turn this mood around. Don't want to waste a Saturday down in the dumps. I'm convinced that happy burns more calories than sad! :D

Although I have my 10,000 steps today, my motivation is lacking as well. I seem to do well with 7-8 hours of sleep per night. 6 hours is just not enough for me and it's been my 3rd night in a row only getting 6. Tonight, I think I'll go to bed early and see if that helps. Because I wake up at 4:45am when I'm at work, that makes for a super early night. Ah well..

Sarah - I weighed this morning again and I too was up a pound. Sooo annoying. But I agree.. happy does burn more calories than sad.. so up and at 'em and go seize the day. Enjoy your Thai food tonight!

Lots of good chatter to read in this thread :) Sarah, I'm glad your coworker showed up- and about the wrist rash, I had that myself for the first couple weeks I work the Fitbit and then it cleared up, not to occur again. I wondered if it was a little bit of outgassing from the material the wrist band was made with and just added a little more cleaning to the band and to the skin and a little more airing of the skin under the band. Worked for me anyways.

Good to see everyone motivated. I thought that this week with my mom sent back home, I would get my exercise in and foods logged. Wasn't meant to be. By Wed afternoon, I was running a temp around 102 and have been flat out sick with fever 102-103 and overwhelming fatigue since then. Today is the first day I have actually been able to stay awake but I sti don't feel good. No other symptoms except constant nausea and vomiting x 1 on Thurs. Heck of a week... but at least the fever is nearly gone and there's been no respiratory crud which usually hits me really hard. With the nearly constant sleeping I was doing, my step report is pitiful.

    Anyways...

Light, I am sorry to hear that you've been so sick. That's a pretty high fever. That's one of the things about the post-winter holidays. It seems like the viruses are rampant this time of year. I hope that you're back to normal soon. Take care of yourself.

I moved my Fitbit to my left arm and used some OTC cortisone cream that is clearing it up. I also gave both arms a rest by charging my FB one night. I really don't need sleep stats every night now that I've been able to see my pattern over a couple of weeks.

Dinner turned out to be a lot more people than I expected, but it was enjoyable. It was tricky trying to figure out how to log the food, but I ordered Thai duck and there were several options in the database, so I looked at the variance in calories and choose one toward the higher side just in case. I'm afraid to hit the scale today, though. The dish seemed salty to me, and I like salt!

Sorry to hear you're been sick Light! Get well soon dear!

I like salt too Sarah... but it definitely doesn't like me. I ate super greasy pub style food last night and although I didn't eat a lot, I was up in my weight yet again this morning. I went to bed relatively early, but wasn't able to gather the strength to get my treadmill walk in at 5am today. I guess I'll have to really step it up tonight in the gym.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

thanks ladies... doing better, quiet day but no fever today and nausea seems to be passing as well. Whew, what a lousy week. I'm expecting the saltines and chicken broth to swing my weight right back up by weigh in time but it is what I can tolerate so that's the meal plan for a few days, that and some homemade chicken/rice soup. I didn't realize my appetite was back until I had some at suppertime and wanted a second bowl :) I really need to get back to work tomorrow to handle some of the changes happening at the office so I'm trying not to push it.

Sarah and Kelly, those food choices do not sound at all appealing, LOL...
Kelly, if I'm up to it, I'll join you at the "gym" at 5 tomorrow morning. No promises but that is when I try to get my exercise bike rolling at home.
Sarah, glad the skin irritation seems to be getting better..
