What are your aims or goals for the coming week?
I am on leave, so I know my eating will not be at its best, but I am hoping to keep it at an acceptable level.
I also have LOTS of time to get extra training in on top of my normal crazy routine so a slight excess on the nutrition side will balance out.
I need to get various things sorted in my life, cleaning house, updating insurance policies, making appointments for various annual check ups etc.
I also plan to catch up with friends and hang out at the beach!
I need to chat with my Sensei about the mental side of competing because I know that is one of my weakest areas!

This week I am committed to stay within my calorie goal and add some exercise in the evening at least every other day. Oh and I still have not un-decorated from the holidays. We are still enjoying the festive atmosphere but really it is the middle of January and time to move on. Have a great week!0

I'm a one-day-at-a-time kind of person. I have not even planned for tomorrow, let alone next week. Let's see...Tomorrow I drive home and get back to my real life. My goal for next week should really be to start spring cleaning early. Maybe take one room at a time and start thoroughly cleaning it for my new, healthy life. I could donate clothes that I will never wear again and have my bicycle fixed up so I can start using it. There is so much I can do for the new me that will be emerging. Goal: Start doing it!0

@NewOR2015 our thoughts are in sync today. My husband's cousins are in town (from Oregon) and we are having dinner with them on Tuesday. For me, this is future planning. There are scheduled events on my calendar but I do my best when I focus on today. I don't like to plan what I'll wear tomorrow, I can't make my lunch the night before and I really don't like to commit to plans very far in advance. Sometimes I'm good for a week and then fall back to one day at a time. This is something I am trying to work on. I am hoping this will be a year of change and progress for me. I'm no spring chicken so it's about time : )0

@Living360 What can I say? Great minds think alike.0

I think I have a pretty good balance between planning ahead and being flexible. I rarely work a Mon-Fri week, so every week is different for me and I can't leave socialising for weekends as I work at least a third of those. I like to have an idea of what is happening in the coming week, especially if it means I need to change my training or eating routines, but if things end up happening differently to plan, I am good at adapting and making new plans around the changes.0

I have a three day weekend for the MLK holiday and I want to get caught up on some work that I didn't do while I was sick. I went to a barre class yesterday morning and then hubby and I saw Revenant. I spent the rest of the day under a blanket on the couch. I think it's this weather - the gray gets to me. I like it better if its raining or sunny. Just decide, weather.
I am going to a barre class this morning and some grocery shopping and tomorrow I am going to see my trainer bright and early. My goal this week is to get back into my workout routine and keep my nutrition in check.
In regard to planning, I am definitely a planner. I keep a calendar that has upcoming everything on it. I also like to plan some of the fun things out so I have something to look forward to. When I complete a workout, I make sure I check it off my calendar. It makes me feel accomplished.0 -
All of you keep me going and wanting to do better. I'm taking down our Christmas decorations today which I have been planning to do for over two weeks. Something more fun kept coming up so I'm flexible in that way, lol.0

I'm home again. I only logged 3337 steps today because of my long drive, and I am in no mood to go out for a walk now. I will have to do extra tomorrow. On Thursday I started using a pedometer. I've always heard about the importance of getting in at least 10,000 steps a day. I learned that I have no problem doing that (except for today).
I am off tomorrow as well. I plan to buy a turkey and cook it because I didn't get enough during Thanksgiving. (I love turkey!) I will freeze the leftovers in 3 oz portions for the future. I wanted to do this during the holidays, but there was always so much food around already. And I still plan on starting my spring cleaning (while the turkey cooks).0 -
My week started ok. I took huge strain with my knee at leg class, something which hasn't happened in weeks. I know it is because I started fencing again last week. I am considering delaying my return to fencing for another 6 weeks, until my bjj competitions are over. Then I can take it easy and rest if needed as my knee gets used to that movement again. Hung out at the gym coffee shop for a few hours with friends, sorted stuff at the bank, did shopping (one little chocolate and healthy food!) and came home to get started on the cleaning that needs to happen this week. Tonight is bjj which I'm always excited about! Plus I learnt the sweeps we will do tonight on Sat.0

This week is going well for me. Nothing amazing, just good. I have my eating under control and am getting my walking in today. Losing only ounces a week, but it adds up into pounds over time.0

So I'm going to focus on nutrition this week. I'm staying in my calories but I have not been choosing wisely. More of what I want instead of what I need. So protein has to become important again so I have the energy to up the exercise to more than 20 min a day.
@CaptainBoing give the leg time you can be your body's best friend or it's worst enemy. When I was 18 I knew it all mainly because I was 18 and i was my body's worst nightmare thus the leg I have today. Oh well live and learn.

My week is also starting well. Enjoying healthy food and getting caught up on household chores.0

Another good day happening today. Not perfect, of course, but good overall. I'm so happy to have gotten past the holiday overeating episode.0

We went out for dinner last night with friends and I enjoyed myself. I didn't go crazy but I was satisfied. Back on track today. I am hoping to get into the 170s by the end of the month.0

I am thankful to all our group members. I'm sorry I don't add friends, but it is just a personal preference. I do consider you all friends. I am still mystified and concerned about Kris' disappearance.0
-
@NewOR2015 I have a very small group of friends that I started out with then I have my group friends. Though I'm in a few groups with the same people. LOL0

Good morning. Today I am recommitting to cleaning my house.( I started cleaning out a closet but then decided to finish a jigsaw puzzle so that I could clear the space. After I finished that puzzle, however, I started another one so that space is still not clear.)0

Looking forward to some fun with friends for the next few days. Have food pretty well planned. Should be some good exercise involved too. Wishing everyone a wonderful day.0
-
Raining here in SoCal this morning. I'm off to work, everyone enjoy their day!0
-
Nothing new here. I cleaned my bedroom some. Tomorrow I'll do a more thorough job of it. A little at a time, just like my weight loss and exercise.0

My knee is happy again, because I haven't been to fencing. I have decided that will have to wait until March for me to return, just because I need to focus on bjj comp prep (which my knee doesn't mind at all). At least I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime thanks to competition prep. Training hard and catching up with friends this week. Not getting to the cleaning I should do though...0
-
@CaptainBoing I am glad your knee is better and that you are taking care of not overworking it. We need you to be well so that you can continue to inspire us.
@MrsVelapanur @JMarcella57 Getting together with friends is a joy in life. My friends are no longer pushing the dessert every time we go out. We still talk and laugh and enjoy a healthy meal without going overboard on calories.0 -
HaHa, have no fear. The week after my knee surgery I was doing upper body weights training, with my physio's approval, but it did prove that nothing stops me!0

Out of curiosity does anyone else have a crutch food something you eat everyday gets you through the day or you work into your day? Mine is Whoppers candy I work them in every day. My meals are basicly the same day in and day out with some switching but the candy is always there.0

@2020pinktogo I do eat very similar meals every breakfast and lunch during the work week. It is simpler for me and helps me stick to my calorie goal. My husband is in charge of dinner so the menu varies and I adjust my portions for calorie control. I am trying to eat a high antioxidant diet as recommended by my doctor so my sweet tooth is somewhat satisfied by eating berries, fruits and some sweeter veggies. I struggle with eating just a small portion of treats I love. Even knowing I could have more whoppers the next day, I would eat a few, then a few more, then a few more until they were gone. I'll have 10 then there's an odd number left in the bag so I'll eat one more. Then a serving was only this many calories so I'll eat a few more. Then the number is odd again on and on and then they are gone. Oh, this turned into a confession, lol. Well, I am glad I can admit my weakness. It allows me to try to do better, which I tackle one day at a time.0
-
I also have an issue with portion control on items that I really love. I don't put them in my diet during the week and when I decide I am going to enjoy myself, then I usually don't count calories. I try to be mindful of my food choices on a treat day but overall, I just have what I want. I eat pretty much the same thing during the week when I am on my regular eating plan.0
-
There is no way I can have a little chocolate each day. Instant binging for me. Same with Dr. Pepper, popcorn, etc. I don't eat a wide variety of foods, but the foods that I do eat, I eat a lot of. And I don't like trying new foods. I think it's a texture thing more than a flavor thing.0
-
I haven't been losing much weight lately, but I have no problem slipping into any of my jeans now. Some jeans had been sitting unused in my closet for years now.0
-
@NewOR2015 It's not all about weight, though we all like to see lower numbers on the scale. The journey is about being healthier in mind, body & spirit. Fitting into a stored pair of jeans is real progress in my book!0

Happy Friday everyone! Any plans for the weekend? I plan on taking two barre classes and one more days of weights this weekend. My nutrition has been good but it's the TOM. We're going to the movies tonight and I am fantasizing about popcorn right now.0
