My hubby and my baby girl who just turned 8. Holy cow does time go by so fast!
Yesterday I went shopping and took a small nap. My friend came over that evening with her two girls and we all hung out, sang Oldest child happy birthday and gave them pieces of Boston cream pie. Yesterday was terrible food wise. But planning to pick myself up and start fresh today. Planning on drinking plenty of water today so I'll be well hydrated for tomorrow. Making muffins this morning with a squash I got in my produce basket. Packing the kids overnight bags this morning and then heading out to the health expo for our race after lunch. Then we drop the kids off and the hubby and I get the evening alone together as we prep our stuff for the race and hang out. So a fun day, I'm hoping!
I didn't psych myself out, it actually helped seeing the course. It's relatively flat, and goes through some very scenic and interesting areas of town. I was worried it would be a tedious run so that helped me mentally.
Sherry - I wonder if that steep incline contributes to the leg issues? Hubby was having some problems and avoiding steep climbs was part of his recovery. Either way, holy cow! That is quite the workout!
Have a great weekend everyone!0 -
Pulling for your you Val. Have a great race!

Val, enjoy the run-up to the race. I kick myself for not going to the expo here. Actually I think it is in Marathon (26 mi away...obviously, lol), but I think there is some stuff at Zappeio Hall at the finish near us. I should've went and taken cards from every p.t. and masseuse and trainer helping with stretches and post-race stuff. Oh well. I thought of it too late when I was seeing racers hitting the local souvlaki places in our neighborhood and basically it was all over. Good luck! I'm cheering for you!!
Marla, enjoy your travels! Carson City sounds like a place with a saloon, horses, and wanted posters. Lol. I've never been so I'll just keep imagining it that way.
Took it easy today, just took the kids for ice cream and school extracurricular activities tonight, and legs are feeling pretty good. The hills here might be a problem. They tend to go "both ways", meaning no matter where I go, it's uphill. From home to school: uphill. From school to home: uphill. Lol. I could walk home backwards like lil girl does. Similarly, I read recently about elevating heels to shorten calf to let it heal. I put risers in my shoes, but my athletic shoes are low, so now I've put the risers in a pair of Crocs boots which probably have a bit of rise naturally. I think the overall effect is enough to help, esp if I don't walk too too much for the next week and a half while I'm still on the ibuprofen. Still hopeful.0
