Hey everyone! It was a holiday yesterday so we all slept in!

I survived my race! I finished in exactly 6 hours. The weather was gorgeous! High of 70 and it was mid to upper 40s at the start. Around mile 19 I felt pretty gross...and again at mile 23. After that is was a lot of running/walking alternating until I made it to the end. Right at mile 26, a blister between my big toe and the next one popped...there was the burning and stinging sensation. But I figured, two tenth of a mile to go, I'm finishing strong! So I did. I have massive blisters on both big toes on their tips, as well as another on my pinky toe. Some slight chafing by my armpits from my bra. Very sore. But doing pretty well! My dad and sister came and cheered my on that last half mile. Hubby finished in four hours and six minutes...the psycho.

Now I'm taking the next several weeks off for rest and recovery. In other news, I can't remember if I mentioned it...but apparently I qualified for the age group nationals in the USA Triathlon. So in August I'm headed to Omaha to compete in those. Crazy!

Today I have my staff meeting. I didn't get my church stuff done yesterday, so I'll probably work on that while hubby is gone today. He has continuing Ed for the next two days. Have some easy pasta to make tonight. That's about it on this end!

Training for next Tri season starts mid February! Planning on taking some fun classes at the Y and really focusing on some strength exercises in the meantime!

Oh, and here is a photo of me at the start...and then a photo of my hubby and I after I finished!

Yay you Val!! Way to go girl!! :D

Feels so good to complete a goal.

We have major flooding and another two weeks of rain so the one hour of sun peeking through the clouds this morning is great!

Hubby put bed together, new wire racks for closet while I was gone. We waited to set up bed until room painted, its a lovely light aqua color and I bought these fun curtains with a beach mural painted on them.

I actually lost a pound! I guess combo of small breakfasts and walking overcame the carbs at night, i am still surprised.

I was having a crap evening and reading and seeing the pics really picked me up! Congrats on the tri quali too!

Marla, nice to have a beachy room during rainy days.

Yeah, so, my day has had many highs and lows. With DH gone, I'm finally able to institute chore schedule for the kids. Started yesterday...good. Today...great....untilllll.....don't ask. Let's just say that I saw a preview of teen years in my sons meltdown today. Anywa, hes cmng around now. Did some cooking ahead also. In other news, legs were not good today. Grrrr. But f son has no work tomorrow, we will skip the tutor and rest my legs. But my right shoulder which had been messed up feels almost 100% again. The. All these aches. Gotta get better!

Ok did a evil secretive thing on my marriage but I felt like I almost have no choice. Mike threw a hickey fit about having to mail back bench he couldn't put together because he said they built it wrong. I think most people would have just made it work. I would have but god forbid I am not allowed to do building....

So after much cussing while he taped cardboard around all the wood and taped and taped and we took to post office it was 52 lbs and $87 thank god amazon is paying for the shipping costs to return defective stuff.

So I looked at Home Depot they had something similar but yes once again you have to build. It comes in 4-5 pieces I am talking about entry way wood bench you can sit and take off shoes and store them inside.

So I text my neighbor who is 38 and pretty handy, she is painting out side of her house! I asked her if I sent it to her if we could build it together with a bottle of wine and if there are major problems I will hire someone!!!!

She said yes, I ordered it to be sent to her.

So am I nuts or what? When its done should I lie and say I bought it done? or tell the truth and say Kim and I did it honey, but then the god awful male pride will feel like a *kitten* that we did something his frustrating self couldn't???

What do you think? If they sold them done anywhere I would get it but they don't.

I live in area without a lot of stores, just small places, even Home Depot is mailing parts to neighbors house.

Marla, I love you!! This is brilliant. :)

I would just wait til he's in a good mood (or less grumpy mood) and then reveal it (maybe with a bow) and explain that you did it to surprise him....make it like a gift and then he can't be grumpy about it. Too bad it's not a anniversary or Father's Day or something like that...valentines? Hehe

Anyway, have fun getting it together! He will probably be relieved actually.
