Years back stayed low carb about 4 years except planned off meals. I lost 80 lbs fast and pain free. I could eat to my hearts content as long as it was low carb. I got derailed big time by a tragic event where I just didn't give a crap for a long time. I have been off and on so many times the last 10 years since that event Never really giving it more than a few days. Its not I dont like low carb. I mean come on I was successful even with planned off meals. It boiled down to excuses and being lazy. Yep its more work cooking separately for everyone else plus myself. Yes it is more expensive in my household. Yes. its easier to stop for a burger or Chinese. All excuses! They are no longer valid.
I recently tried a month long stint of simply counting calories and staying in MFP guidelines and not worrying about what I ate. Guess where that got me? Nowhere. Well I take that back after surgery in Dec I barely ate for a good week and the scale dropped. Heavens knows I sure couldn't keep that up. I like to eat. Once I started eating again back it all came. So I continued counting calories and trying to staying in MFP guidelines for a pound a week. Guess who was hungry??? Yep me! Guess what happened. Nothing! Dr also told me that there is statistically a weight gain for most people after a hysterectomy. UH, I refuse to fit in the statistics. I like being the odd duck
So back to carb counting I went last Sunday. I have eaten ridiculously delicious food. Sure a few lbs flew off but thats not what is awesome. Feeling like you are so full of energy you can hardly stand it is AWESOME !!!! Awesome!!! No more 27/7 heartburn either. That right there is worth swearing off wheat for. Guess positive antibody tests wasn't enough but no more heartburn and a big energy burst is.

Good luck. I can relate to the yo-yo weight gain-loss experience. Been doing it since I was 13 YO.0

Thanks Petunia and Daylitmag. I hope Im not wrong but it feels like something just clicked this time. Im not dragging my feet because I feel i should do it. I want to do it this time. I had never tried calorie counting on a SAD before my recent stint. I didnt like it at all.0

Welcome back on the LCHF Wagon! I have fallen off so many times they should just seatbelt me on, but no matter what, it still works when I come back to it. I know I need to eat this way. Great job getting back on track!0

Welcome back.
I try to view a LCHF diet like a gluten free diet - both are medically necessary so I can't cheat... It definitely helps if you feel better eating this way too!0 -
