Sorry I've been MIA this week! My toes are worse for wear and have been making sleep difficult. I've been catching extra naps when I can. I also have oldest child's birthday party tomorrow...AND my friends baby shower tomorrow too. So it's been a bit crazy trying to get ready for all of that! The huge blisters on the top of bot big toes are finally starting to heal a bit. I tried to hike with hubby and kids yesterday but that didn't work so well.

Marla - I second Sherry's idea and like the v-day idea. If it's given as an "I wanted to give you something nice" not as a "You're too incompetent to do this" then it should make a difference. :). Guys can be so touchy about that stuff...but I try to remember my weird quirks that I get sensitive about. Good luck with that though!

Sherry - Where exactly do you feel the leg pain? That's so frustrating that it doesn't seem to go away.

Well, today I'm getting various shopping done. A quick stop at Walmart for a few things I forgot to get (mainly special Frozen candles) and more band aids for my toes. Also Costco for snack foods for the baby shower. Then I need to pick up the back yard this evening so it's presentable for guests tomorrow.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Feeling sort of anxious this morning because I sent email to step daughter last night for ideas to help her dad my hubby with his stuff. I have put this off for years not wanting to interfere but things have got worse and I need help. Doctor wants him to go to counseling and he won't go.

So feeling anxious I did a bunch of filing, organizing this morning early.

It's been doing this great thing where it doesn't rain much during the day but all night, gives me a chance to be on the trail during the day, will go again today.

Hope you heal from race soon Val, we are all proud of you!

Speaking of Costco I found this healthy new crisp called Wild California Fruit and Nut Crisps and got hooked then they stopped carrying it, funny I found out company is a new start up from Santa Rosa, CA where my daughter lives! lol I will buy a bunch next time I go there. I like it because it is a healthy snack with just a slight sweet taste that takes my sweet craving away without being high cal and bad for you.

We have lots of stores that are like Whole Foods, co-ops and Natural Foods and Wildberries, but are expensive for a small box of crisps sort of like those.

val, you put your body through the ringer, give it all the time it needs. Don't end up like me. Lol. My legs (mostly the right) hurt in the back calf, in the middle. It's very hard to pinpoint. Usually slightly lateral, but sometimes a little to the inner side. And of course at the back bottom at the tendon which just feels sore, like when I ran, but not as bad as the sporadic stabbing/burn pain of my calf muscles. I can't figure out any consistency to what triggers it. I can be walking and doing fine in one step, and feel the burning/sharp pain in the next step. Is it goin uphill, downhill, accelerating, decelerating, outstretched landing on heel, short steps with bent knee---I seriously do not know. I've tried to pinpoint but cannot. It has happened in any of those ways, but not always any one of them. Today however I did some walking trying to walk with my thighs tighter to each other (rubbing) and taking almost like crossover steps and it seemed better that way. So it could be hip rotation which might make sense tha when I gained a bunch of weight this summer, my gait changed to accommodate bigger thighs (more spread apart walking).

Marla, good luck with hubby. If Doctor suggests counseling but he won't go, maybe he will try some exercise as a compromise. Hitting the gym for heavy lifting, or yoga, or martial art like judo, or even boxing or mma might give him an outlet. For me, it's running. It does wonders for my mood and coping. Surprised I haven't gone off the deep end without it. Nice luck about those crisps being in the same town as daughter!!

Well today I had errands, including embassy again and shopping. Got tired and ended up taking two short naps today. Couldn't figure out why, but just checked my Vivofit and I have over 17,300 steps somehow. Oh yeah, I also ran a tiny bit today when lil girl left something home and I ran home to get it and bring it to her b4 the school gate closed. Guess that added a couple thousand steps. And carrying arm loads of groceries and heavy produce home really did my legs in. :(

    Anyway, TGIF! Stay warm!

Went for long walk on part of trail that goes down to beach then walked on beach 13,000 steps so far.

I wonder Sherry since you never have really stopped if you have a overuse injury and need to completely rest legs for a long time? My hubby spent almost a year with moves doing tons of work using his hands and now has major hand pain. Doctor told him he needs to stop using it for long time and is sending him to a hand specialist.

    Said he has tendonitis.

I also found out he may be able to join a gym for free through his medical with Silver Sneakers its a program for over 65. I am 59 and he will be 66 tomorrow.

Marla might be onto something with the overuse injury. Even when you're not running your step count is always high.

Val did you get blisters training? Just wondering why you got such awful ones race day. Any thoughts? Good luck with all the parties tomorrow.

Marla the free gym would be great for your husband. My insurance contributes $20/month toward mine as long as I go 12 times a month.

Can't remember if I told you guys I'm doing this burpee penalty - for every 10 calories I go over a target my trainer & I agreed on, I have to do 1 burpee. Jason's add on rule is they have to be done that same day. I just did 114 burpees. Overeating by 1135 calories then doing that many burpees (it's after 9pm here) was a seriously bad idea. But they're done and hopefully that's out of my system now.
