Xterra EX2 in Flintstone, MD

My friends and I are vaguely considering entering our first Xterra. I'm not even sure what my questions are but I have them.

I've never done that course, but I've done a couple of others. How crowded it is depends on how tight the course is. If there are places to pass, riders should spread out fairly well. If not, it could get pretty congested.
Can you hang back? Yes... you can be aware of other riders and be a little more passive about your riding if you want.
Is it common for people to get off? Depends on the course. One course I rode had a climb NO ONE in the field was able to ride/complete.0 -
Thanks!! That is helpful. After I posted here, I found a guy on youtube who Go Pro'd the whole bike/run in 2014. Can't 100% tell how challenging the grades are but I feel like I have a great grasp on how technical it is. And tons of footage of people passing easily, which is a relief. It is a two-lap race, so I realized you can't just wait to be the last person out on the course - the faster folks will come up behind you.0
