Hi everyone,
This is what I came up with so far for the spreadsheet. What are your thoughts/suggestions? I recommend using a computer when using this spreadsheet.
Feel free to poke around in it for commenting purposes. If everyone likes it, I'll reset it on January 31 so that everyone can join in on Feb 1.

I decided to do the challenge in 4 week increments (basically monthly with a few days off per month).

Okay so I do have a question... How are we calculating net calories? It is calories eaten - calories burned above the set activity level?0

All the progress bars and calculations are based on percent. So as long as you do it the same way on the sign up sheet and the logging sheet consistently, your progress will be correct. Is that ok with everyone? The overall result is you can't compare across the sheet person to person, but you can see how complete everyone's goals are respective for that individual.
Consider two examples:
A) I use net calories and eat back the exercise. So my daily goal is say 1500. Say I eat 1400 in a day before I exercise in the evening. I exercise 300 away and then have a 300 calorie snack for a total of 1700 eaten that day. However, since I used 1500 as my goal intending to count and eat back exercise calories, I would enter 1400+300-300=1400 calories that day. My percent is out of 1500 a day, so it still calculates right for my goals.
I use my total daily energy expenditure minus 10% when I do my log. So say my allowance is 1800 per day. In this case, I don't count nor eat back my exercise calories. So everyday I will enter the total for what I eat. Using the numbers above, it would be 1400+300=1700. Since I entered my goal on the sign up sheet as 1800 using the assumptions that I do not count or eat exercise calories burned, the percent is consistent for my goals.
On another note....
The thing i'm wondering about is the progress bar for remaining calories at the bottom... it's the only one you don't want to spill out of the top but it's formatted the same (assuming we are all trying to lose weight). Maybe I should display this one differently? Must think on that... maybe it should be little yellow boxes sort of like a stack of gold... and you want gold left at the end in your savings... or at least you don't want... coal if you overspent. Lol. I don't know.
ETA hahaha the "B )" turned into

Yup, changed it to a bank for gold bricks. Couldn't think of anything else. I also put some testers in there so you can kind of see how it works/how things are entered.0

Net calories thing makes total sense! Very clever spreadsheet! I really love the gold bricks and the progress bars... Can't wait to get started, haha!0

This is a great spreadsheet! I am excited to start using it.0

Yay!
Please let me know if the spreadsheet runs out of room and you want to join. I can add more progress meters and logging lines.0 -
Just put my info into the spreadsheet, not sure where to find the logging tab, or what progress bars people are referring to? I just see the spreadsheet with all our names/goals, nothing else...?0

Indeed, there are tabs on the bottom. You'll be interested in "Sign-Up", "Logging", and "Progress Meters".
