^ I guess you can tell what's on my mind.
Apparently I was a no-show here yesterday. I was pretty busy and I guess the day just got away from me. Basically, yesterday was my normal school-tutor relay. Had a sinus headache so I treated the kids to burgers out so I wouldn't have to cook.
val, I have had my entire adult life a very strict "no baking" rule. It probably sucks to be my kids, but I don't bake--ever. I'm kinduv an anti-carb-er anyway, and there are amazing bakeries on every corner here, so I figure we can always get baked goods, without having an endless supply of them. My husband has baked banana breads and cakes and pies and things with the kids because he is a carb addict, and I figure baking should be done with grandmas and aunts and special people, so I don't feel totally guilty for depriving my kids. Basically I'd never resist cookies and baked goods if we made them all the time. I'd be hoooge!
Marla, interesting how early your hormones changed. I spoke with a friend this week who had been having symptoms for years but not passed into full blown menopause yet. She's 53! A couple months ago she had to have her ovaries removed, so she was thrust into it. She said it's been no big deal. I like hopeful stories, because my mom had it very bad and still to this day takes estrogen (78 yo) and it is the one and only medicine my dad refuses to mail order, bc he's afraid of what happens if it's late to arrive...she goes through a very bad time if she misses a dose! That scares me.
Had t do alot of walking this morning and my legs bother me again. It's so difficult over a long time/distance to be pain- free. .
I have a new dilemma. I have learned that one of the kindergarten parents is, of all things, a sports Doctor. I can't believe it!! There is still the issue of "what" I'd be getting myself into, if I saw a doctor (tests, scans, etc?? cha-ching), but in addition, as far as I can tell (I don't see this dad often), the guy is most likely a jerk. I don't know whether to approach him (actually his very nice wife, bc I see her every day but see him only at meetings). Maybe I will talk to his wife. I think she is an athlete, she is very pleasant and our daughters are friends. I hope she speaks English.
Strikes today. Kinder finishes early. Probably will skip tutor due to limited transit, marches, rallies, etc. Self massage of legs after my walk this morning.0 -
It's interesting how everyone seems to have a different experience with hormones. My mom had endometriosis and had a complete hysterectomy in her 40s so she skipped menopause completely.
Marla - How exciting to get your new furniture! It must feel so good to be getting your house situated!
Sherry - I made the cookies for our bible study...and then ate a bunch of them. Luckily there are only three left, so I'll give them to the kids. Definitely craving sugar right now, so I'm going to try and let my body go through its withdrawals. I've noticed, I'm fine with desserts in the house if I've been without desserts for a while. But my body definitely craves sugar once it's gotten used to having it often.
We all went for a four mile hike with the kiddos yesterday. Had a picnic lunch half way through in a beautiful canyon. I'm definitely sore today! So I did eat a bunch of cookies, but had a lot of activity as well. So not a fantastic day, but not a complete loss either. I have a whole week to get sugar out of my system before bible study next week. I should be find by then if I stick to my guns this week. So that's my main goal. Also going to try to start my strength training up this week as well. Next week I'm going to start some light running and then the week after my training officially starts.
Today I volunteer to help with picture day, and then have to head to church to get some stuff done there. I'm planning on making some meat loaf tonight. Hoping for a quiet and restful evening after all that!
Have a great day!0 -
They say it is heredity about how bad you get menopause but not sure I believe that as both my girls are now mid 30's and have zero menopause symptoms yet.
Not sure why it happened early for me, my mom was early also but late 40's early 50's not 30's.
New furniture is so comfy and great. Love the ottoman so much we might get another and skip getting a coffee table. I have a round end table next to couch and chair so can use that for a drink to sit on.
I thought since my living room is smaller if I leave some room even a little in center I could still do yoga or Nia by dvd or streaming at some point.
Was busy and skipped exercise yesterday, today going for a walk soon.
When I got back from college yesterday, (registering voters) it started pouring rain for rest of day, I had meeting last night and new friend and I went out for a drink after. I only had one and just enjoyed being out with a friend!
Neighbor says painting will be done today. She only came 3 hrs a day so took all week to get large hallways done with a primer under. Looks much better in off white.

When I first thought I was peri-menopausal I asked both my mom & sister what menopause was like for them. They both said they had a couple of really bad periods and then the periods stopped completely, and that was it. I'm on the depo shot now because I get such horrible PMS, so I guess it makes sense I would have the mood swings as part of this. I don't get hot flashes when I'm awake, but around once a week I have night sweats. For most of the summer I felt like I was PMSing all the time, so at least that's improved.
I woke up with a headache yesterday that just never went away. After work I went to Walmart, the library, and then went home. Had an early dinner, listened to an audiobook while I snuggled with the cat for about an hour, then it eased up enough to switch to my regular book. It's better today, and I've got a chiropractor appointment in a couple of hours that should take care of the rest of it. I was in a car accident many years ago and I've got a few areas in my back & neck that still act up from time to time.
It's the 3 year anniversary of my initial assessment/session with my personal trainer. I see him tonight, so he better have something fun planned for me. LOL.
One of my goals is to be able to squat the equivalent of my body weight. I had gotten up to 130# before my leg injury in the spring, and this fall we built to 135# before the weight room got so busy that it was hard to get a squat rack since I see him at the same time the after-work crowd is there. The past couple times we've been able to get back there, it just hasn't felt good. With marathon training starting in a few weeks my training priorities were going to need to change anyway so I messaged Jason this morning asking if we could put the squat goal on the back burner until after my legs were recovered from my race. He wrote back saying "I'm so glad that you're the one who brought this up...." so I'm happy we were on the same page. Wonder how long he's been trying to decide when to tell me that has to wait.0
