Having trouble with macros :(

Hi everyone,
I've only been doing this for 2 weeks. I have a hard time getting my far in. I easily hit my protein and carbs for the day though. I eat leafy veggies at every meal and it adds up to 20g pretty darn quick.

I've tried adding coconut oil to my coffee but I don't like it. I add mayo to my burgers, butter to my steaks, full fat sour cream to most everything else. Still, I fall short on fat grams. I haven't made the bombs yet because (and don't judge me too harshly), I don't like sweets.

I've done a lot of reading but Nutting I've read helped me to add more fat without going over my protein or caloric goals :(

I would maybe switch up your leafy greens. Perhaps eat nuts, avocado and olives instead. Put cheese or bacon on your salads and use a full fat dressing. Fatter meats will help too. Chicken is one of the leaner meats- is that what you are eating?

We've been switching between burgers, steak, pork, oxtail, chicken and tuna. I guess we've had everything twice.

You mean switch up my leafy greens by substituting them with the olive avocados and nuts? That's easy to do! I love avocado, olives and nuts! My only concern is the carb count on avocados and nuts. I made a poor choice to eat cashews one day and blew my carb count. I'll give it a go though! It actually never occurred to me to take away the greens. Goes to show what years of people telling you to "eat your vegetables", can do.

Cashews are my kryptonite. Easy to eat a bag and blow thru the carb count. I have one serve of spinach a day but there are many healthy carnivores here. When I started I had a look at which foods came with low carbs and had more fat. Avocado n olives are great ideas. Oven roasted eggplant /aubergine or zuchinin drizzled in olive oil is nice. Lots of folk like dill pickles too. If you have a blender you can try BPC which is made by adding butter (coconut oil if you like it) and/or cream to your coffee. Froths up nicely.

Always cook your veggies in butter, or coconut oil to increase the fat content. Use heavy whipping cream in coffee. Don't feel bad about the fat bombs! I didn't do them either. One thing I did was combine cream cheese with shredded hard cheeses into ramekins, and would eat one of them. There are savory type fat bomb recipes, but I never tried any of them either.

Wondering if you count total carbs or net carbs?

Soooo, you don't have to hit the fat goal. How many calories are you eating? Are you still hungry when you're not reaching the fat "goal"? It's not really a goal that you need to reach... Unless maybe you're hungry or not eating enough calories too consistently.
Think of it more like this.
Carbs have a hard limit, not to exceed.
Protein has a minimum you need and a maximum you don't want to go over and these numbers are a range. Often something like 50-80g or 70-100g... Something like that. So anywhere in there is good.
Fat, is just what's left of your calories to satiety. If you're not hungry, there's no need to force yourself to eat more fat.
And I personally don't recommend fat bombs. I think you're better off just eating regular food instead of making something to eat just for the sake of eating more fat. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fat advocate. I add MCT and butter to my coffee every day. (Did you blend yours? Could be why you didn't like it if you didn't)
If you're trying to lose weight, let your body burn its own fat.
Again, this is assuming you aren't going hungry.

A simple dessert might help. My sweetie mixes cream cheese & sugar free
    jello.

This makes things a lot more simple. I thought I had to hit all my targets in order to keep the 5/20/75 ratio. If I eat my max in carbs and protein, but am lower on fats, I thought it would screw up my body or something because the ratio would be off.

I'm nearly always full. I was heavily exercising/weight training a couple of years back. Eating in the morning was drilled into my head. Lately, I've been waking up full but I eat anyway. I'm full a lot. My caloric intake is ok, but it's the fat that has been consistently mediocre. I cook my foods with butter, use whipping cream in coffee, eat cheese etc. Most of my calories come from meat though.

@Marlinedorcinvil , in my first week, I counted total carbs, my 2nd week I counted net. I found it too hard to count total carbs because of the veggies I was eating. I mean, I'm not eating carrots, I'm eating things like kale, collard greens, spinach. Still, the carbs would rack up once I included things like cheese, whipping cream, eggs, pickles, chili flakes (I need heat in my food and none of my past chili sauces are keto-friendly). What do you suggest??

@KenSmith108 oh..going to try that for my DH. He's having a hard time letting go of desserts!

Today I added bacon and cheese to my morning omelette, snacked on almonds, put olives in my lunch and ate less of the salady stuff. My fat was better. Won't obsess over it though!

    Thanks everyone

The ratio doesn't matter too much unless you're doing keto for medical reasons. It's not uncommon for breakfast to become coffee or even less. I think easily a third of those of us who are most active on this forum don't eat until several hours after we get up. It's really not the big deal the magazines make it out to be, and I think the whole "eat breakfast" thing stems from people skipping it despite being hungry (the whole "first meal is breakfast even if it's afternoon" thing aside).
