What's the cost?

The great things about our fitness:
It’s Free: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Viktor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
It’s Easy: Sensible-clean-light eating + your basal metabolic rate + any normal daily movements = fit body.

Sure, most of us like to move above and beyond daily movements (ie, we like to exercise), though. So we either have to pay for gear, equipment, maybe even guidance…paying in some way is part of the gig! If you do decide to pay for exercise, “Caveat Emptor.”

Here’s some things to keep in mind:
University of American Samoa…online?! This, of course, is true of any trainer or gym (boutique or Globo). End of Three lays out the questions to ask (any gym, trainer, or class instructor).“Unfortunately, to own a crossfit gym you do not need to be a good trainer. All you need to be a certified crossfit trainer is money and a weekend. To affiliate with crossfit…same story…They make fun of the trainers at “Globo Gym”, but a lot of those trainers have a degree in exercise physiology and studied months for their personal training certs.”

Vote with your dollar. Let the free market work. Don’t buy it. Cost it out. What are you getting for your $, look up comps, due diligence. See things to consider: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/weik29.htm

You did what?
Your body (the only 1 you have) deserves well-thought-out, biomechanically and physiologically sound programming. If that can’t be explained, run like the plague. “One of the trademark signs of bad programming is putting too much into a workout and doing it all the time. Throwing the kitchen sink at athletes will always run them into the ground and cause the infamous “sweat angels”, but it is not CrossFit. Anyone can program 50 Burpees, 50 cleans, 400m Run and 50 xyz, 50 blah blah blah, tire you out for 20 plus minutes, then repeat this every day. Too often people mistake sweating a lot and being out of breath as quality programming…” (Mark, CrossFit858) http://www.crossfit858.com/2013/12/programming-at-crossfit-858/

Enjoy a significant amount of your fitness for free…just be active, play, and hit up a nice run, walk, bike, hike, swim. Bang out some core, mobility, bodyweight right in your home. And, if you do pay for fitness, capitalize on your buying power and use your brain.

Always replay beastmodal’s reference to eating in your head…it applies here to exercise…”I received this recommendation from no one. My brain told me to do it… I think for myself.”)

That’s the only reason you should heed anything here. There is no capital relationship. In fact, that’s how fitness should be…no one capitalizing on anybody…just normal people getting together, being active, sharing ideas, stories, successes and failures. Let everyone else war over their interested positions, trying to outdo each other with more outrageous gimmicks, duking-it-out for our money;…while we just live free and easy!

Good advice. I've found from traveling around that not all CrossFit gyms are created equally. I still believe there are some good "boxes" out there, but use your brain as MD says to decide for yourself. Too much of a good thing, probably means it's not a good thing...I no longer spend any of my dollars on gym memberships. I spend it on gear and such. That creates a lot of freedom, I am not beholden to anyone's schedule except my own. If I go visit my kids or phreaks back east I will go workout with them at their "boxes" or gyms and I enjoy the *kitten* out of that, and it's always a nice change of pace!! But out here there are so many outdoor options and I have access to the equipment I need to get done what needs to get done, so that I don't need a membership to an exercise facility.

    Outdoors...freedom!
Your endurance coach, her resume was more than "I like biking"?!
