What Would You Eat?

Some of us are noticing a discrepancy in tracking exercise calories between MFP and FitBit, vivoFit and whatever other devices we are using out there. Today, MFP doubled what I would consider I burned off on the cardio machines. Made me think....if I had almost an extra 1000 calories to eat today, what would I have. Hmmm....Spaghetti Alfredo. Possibly. A pan of double chocolate brownies with caramel. Uhmm, better. Maybe a Meat Lover's Pizza and Garlic Parm Wings...since I avoided those on Super Bowl Sunday....hahaha. OK...enough wishful thinking. I don't deny myself any of them if I really want to pay the piper....by REALLY burning off that many calories. But I have learned moderation in my old age and you know what, Alfredo just isn't really worth it. Now, Hershey Moose Tracks ice cream...that may be a different story! What would tempt you to over-indulge?

I would be tempted by really good fried chicken and any kind of pie........I love pie, but especially hot apple with vanilla ice cream. I'll have the pie occasionally now, sans ice cream, but I don't think I've had fried chicken in about 3 years........LOL. Now I want some!

And that discrepancy between MFP and FitBit is very annoying!

Sorry for slightly off topic but OP did mention discrepancy in tracking exercise calories.

Check that your step tracker is set correctly ('APPS' tab then 'Steps').

There is a bug that changes this setting back to 'Don't Track Steps'. Even after you fix it, it can reset to the default 'Don't Track Steps' over time so if you notice anything unusual, check it again.

OK, a bone for the thread's real topic.

For me, it would be a huge bowel of jelly beans. Doesn't matter what brand. A 1000 calories of jelly beans. [drools]

I created an exercise called 'my elliptical' which posts a burn 400 calories less an hour then mfp, regardless of how hard I go. Don't want to get too scientific about it. But I would eat pizza.

Followed by potato chips and cheeseburgers. Why can't what we love be lo cal and beets, which I hate, be high call?

That does sound delicious... Rather than ketchup or malt vinegar for the chips, I like mayo to dip in. I know... it sounds weird but it works. Of course, I'm Canadian so a good (bad) alternative is poutine... chips sprinkled with fresh cheese-curd then smothered in spicy gravy. I can feel my arteries hardening just describing poutine...

Absolutely, brother... The good thing about poutine is the flexibility. One of my fav modifications is adding Montreal smoked meat with the cheese curd...

I love the cheese curds and fries but never acquired the taste for the gravy. Gravy on mashed.

@UncleMac , I'm with you on the poutine and I also like my fries dipped in mayo! Especially chipotle mayo.

In my case it should be more a question of "what have you eaten?" I enjoy hard workouts, and just as much enjoy the reward of having a lot of flexibility in what I can eat after those hard workouts. Today I did a bike, with a short run towards the end, and then a few more miles on the bike. I generally don't eat much of anything early in the day, so when I got home I had about 3600 calories to consume.

Usually at that point not much of anything is off limits. During the summer months I sometimes go for a semi hard ride before we head down to the local breweries that often have food trucks. Knowing I can have a beer or two and whatever I want from the food trucks makes the ride so worth it.

As for the calorie tracking, it took some effort but I've found apps that track close enough to keep my weight where I want it. I don't weigh any foods, and so I've set my calorie goal towards the lower side of things to be safe, and find that doing that accounts for not weighing things. I really prefer to just eat based more on natural urges and then use the human scale for weight control. For me logging is more about proper recovery eating and fueling.

@luluinca Keep it up with that cardio swing and fitting in fried chicken isn't all that hard! I put a dent in some good fried chicken this afternoon! :)

As much as I enjoy chili cheese fries, if I had the choice, I would take the smoked meat poutine.

I think that reflects where we are from as much as food tastes. Do you bleed maple syrup?

Men typically have just three food groups: meat, smoked meat, and beer.

    @UncleMac LOL!

    beans - with smoked meat,
    bacon - smoked meat,
    whiskey - high octane beer,
    lard - from meat,
