Question of the day ![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
How long does it truly take for your body to enter ketosis. I didn't do very great yesterday but Saturday and Sunday I did. I have lost 3.5lbs which I know is water weight. But I am just wondering how long it takes to actually get into ketosis if I stay 25 grams or less of carbs. Also is there any certain feeling you get that lets you know you have entered into it?

About a day. How do you know? Because you're still alive.
Your brain burns about 500 kcal/day. It can only burn glucose or ketones. So if there's plenty of glucose, it'll burn about 125g/d. If you restrict carbs, it'll burn the glucose stored in your liver glycogen -- about 100g. Then it HAS to switch to ketones for fuel. So at 25g carbs, you'll burn through your liver glycogen in about a day.0
