Does anyone else eat too much on the first day of Atkins?

My loss of appetite just kicked in on day two. Very happy about that. They say its takes about 48 hours before your appetite drops. But I was wondering, what about that first day like I had yesterday? I must have eaten almost 2,500 calories of protein.

You'll have other days like that one. Enjoy them! The beauty of low-carb is that your appetite is well regulated. Eat a lot one day, eat less the next. Over the coming months, your well-regulated appetite will cause your body to return to the weight it really wants to maintain. You're in for a fun ride.0

Maybe more fat would be helpful?
When I finally committed, I ate fat like no one's business. Heavenly, heavenly fat. So say we all.
Although, admittedly, it's hard to get my fat/protein ratio perfect even with the added coconut oil. So I know it's rough.0 -
I don't think he literally ate 2500 kcal of protein. That would be 625g of protein. Beyond our ability to metabolize.
I assume he meant protein sources like meat and eggs.0 -
Yes a had bacon, then spicy big bite hot dog from 7 eleven. Then a bacon ultimate cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce. Then a huge 1lb steak, then a pork chop, then a couple slices of cheese.
What I am saying is that the first day, you still have that appetite, and I think today and the next day will start me towards eating less.0 -
I've found that the best way to get over carb cravings is to eat fat everytime I have a craving, so if I've been off keto for any amount of time I usually end up having a few days of super high calories. In the long run though it's the best way to break the cycle of cravings and I know my appetite will stabilise after two or three days.
As wabmester says, even when my cravings subside, there will be days when I can eat for England and other days when I only eat a single small meal all day.0 -
My first week I ate a LOT. I did no carb counting and just ate until I was full. It was difficult enough learning the new diet and what I could/couldn't cook let alone figure out macros. After I was comfortable the next week I restricted by calories and then by macros. Weight dropped off but damn if you try and figure it out all at once you'll give up, lol.0

It does take time to learn! I've been LCHF for a year and still learn new things!
@thedarkwombat, the feeling of not being hungry is awesome!! I'm so happy you're feeling it! Hunger will still fluctuate, but the "starving to death" feeling of eating high carb should be gone for good! Congratulations!0 -
I posted this a while ago, but this was around day 500 (give or take a couple weeks).
Like others have said, it comes and goes. Eventually you learn to trust your appetite. There might be days when I am over 3,000 calories. There might be others where I barely hit 1,500. In the end, everything works out right in the long term.0 -

If this turns out not to be the case, be sure to let us know so we can put our money in pork belly futures. We'll all be rich!!0
