Hi there. I have been struggling with binge eating disorder for the last 9 months and during my time I did try keto diet for about 2.5 months successfully. Had a day where I binged on carbs and got discouraged and stopped. During my time though I did lose weight considerably, had great energy, and most importantly my binges stopped for a decent while. Am planning on starting keto tomorrow after having one last carb meal of jimmy johns tonight and then starting tomorrow. Plan to go to store and buy-
Butter, bacon, eggs, steak, chicken thighs, pepperoni, salami, cheese, sour cream, ranch, Bleu cheese, spinach, sugar free jello, heavy cream, diet coke, diet Dr Pepper.
Any tips, suggestions, etc?
Anyone overcame their binge eating thru keto and feel comfortable sharing their story?
Also please add me guys. Thank you.

Arm yourself with knowledge. Read the stickies on this forum and go to Ketovangelist (online & Facebook) to learn more and get support. Log everything that goes in your mouth honestly. Be careful of sugar free diet items as there are better sweeteners than others. Go on Pinterest and research recipes and fat bombs. Drink water. Don't focus on the scale, focus on this change as a way of life.
I'm not a former binger, but I am formerly obese and have been on a diet since I was 7. I went LCHF 18 month ago and gradually tightened the reins until I became Keto, which I'm really enjoying. I love the freedom from cravings, eating real food, and keeping my emotional sobriety with carbohydrates.
This is about what goes in your mouth to nourish your body, but it is also about your relationship with food. I read a book called "If I'm So Smart, Why Can't I Lose Weight?" by Brooke Castillo that really deals with the other reasons why we eat besides hunger.
Sleep well and ask lots of questions!

Hi @sarsather yes, I suppose I am/was a binge eater. Food has always been an emotional crutch for me, my entire life. And when emotions ran high, so did my appetite for anything sweet or savoury that I could shove in my mouth.
I've been eating low carb for years because I'm a diabetic, but I also kept it low fat, which resulted in many binge days in between the good days, which did nothing to really help my diabetes. Over the last year, I've been learning about eating LCHF and the benefits of a ketogenic diet and am now 70 days into my third LCHF foray and I feel like I've worked out enough of the kinks to keep at it this time. I've had three "binges" in the last 70 days and they were nothing like my binges in the past. By binge, I mean I had half a piece of Naan bread and a handful of Christmas chocolates.
This woe has completely changed my physical and emotional relationship with food. I literally never thought that would ever be possible. I never thought I could go through a day without wanting to inhale everything in my refrigerator. I still have days that are a struggle, but food no longer has the control over me that it's had for 30+ years.
My biggest tip regarding the binge eating issue is eat fat and protein that you love and don't worry about the calories in the beginning because you'll soon get to the point where the hunger and drive to eat just dissipates and then you can start refining your diet.
Make sure you keep up on your electrolytes, you need a lot of sodium eating this way. Not doing so will make you feel weak and nauseous, among other unpleasant feelings. If you read through the launchpad and some of the recent threads, you'll find lots of discussions on the subject.0
