Missing a Meal...

On Friday I had breakfast at 8:30 am. Then we were on a DEAD run, and I wasn't able to eat until 6:30pm....WOW Did I feel HORRIBLE!!! I checked my blood sugars as we were stuck in stop and go traffic on the freeway and it was at 85 and then an hour later (still no food!) and it was 90. But talk about feeling AWFUL for the rest of the day!!! If blood sugars don't drop in the "way low" (below 70 area) why did I feel SO horrible???? Even after I ate dinner (low carb/low calorie) I STILL felt horrible the rest of the night!!!!

Apparently if we are used to a bit higher numbers and we even go into the 80's we can feel hypoglycemic. That happens to me as well sometimes and then I feel terrible the rest of the day (out of sorts, shaky, sweaty, headachy, dizzy, just plain lousy). Others have said not to treat it and eventually you won't have a problem until you truly go into what is considered hypo range. Sometimes I just go ahead and treat it or have a meal if it's near time for one.

For those type reasons. I always carry small snacks with me in my pocket or in a purse. LIke smaller meat sticks. String cheese. snack baggie with a few grapes, or prune Ones (these are individually wrapped). Nuts in a snack baggie. I plan ahead before I leave the house and if there is that chance to be stuck on the road or the day doesn't unfold like planned. I grab a few snacks ... Just in case.

Usually a diebetic's sugar will raise up (not go lower) if you go a long spell with out eating as the OP stated theirs did.
