Hi all, My name is Christine and I'm new to the forum. I tried "lower"carb last December for a couple of weeks and found myself exhausted. So I quit. I think my timing was wrong because I soon after got the flu so my thinking is that maybe I was run down from the illness coming on but I'm ready to give it another try. Having bad sugar cravings lately. Yes I've been giving in to them....arggggh! Just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi....back to reading all the great info here. Have a great day

Welcome! Make sure to read the topics in the launch pad and also to pay close attention to your sodium intake. You need a lot more sodium when you go low carb to keep your electrolytes in balance! Keeping your electrolytes in check will prevent the flu feeling most beginners get!0

Welcome back. Don't give up. Some people have it rough at the start, but it does get better. For many, who try the higher-end of low carb, it might be wiser to reduce the carbs more if things don't get better. Some accidentally settle into the range which is almost perfectly bad for them. The amount it too high for them to really adapt, but too low to fuel them without adaptation. If it is a couple weeks and you don't think you're feeling better, you might be more carb-sensitive than others and need to try going a little lower before giving up.0

Keep an eye out on the fat intake. Years before when I was trying LC, I did not understand the importance about having enough fat in your diet. I tried it for awhile, had good results but eventually quit. Now I make sure my diet is around 70% fat. It really cut down my cravings for the bad carbs like sweets and breads, etc...0

@hakamruth I agree, eating the Avocado, Kerry Gold & olive oil has dramatically decreased my interest in sugar---i joined this forum in October of 2012, about 6 months after coming to MFP and just gave up on LCHF.
Didn't really get how important Fat was or couldn't get how to bring more fat into my WOE.

Thank you for the tips everyone Today is day 3 and I'm feeling pretty good. My diary is open for everyone to see. So please feel free to take a look. I'm not quite sure I have my macros set at the right percentage. Having my first cup of coffee with butter in it...not bad0
