10 week countdown: Lose weight, move faster

Hi

I have just signed up for my 2nd Half. I did my first 2 weeks ago. I have 10 weeks before the next one.

Part 1: I need to shift 10-20lbs. I think at least a 10lb loss would be really helpful to my time. Can anyone recommend a simple diet plan to follow whilst training please?

Part 2: I want to move faster. I did the last run in 1:53. Each course will be very unique obviously, but I'd like to run quicker. The next HM will be much flatter, so I have that advantage but I'd like to hear of some solid tried and tested training to increase my speed please?
