My fiancee and I are going onto our fourth week of insanity. We eat really well, me all vegan, him mostly but have a super healthy shake every day with protein powder and millions of antioxidants, etc as well as a fabulous plant based diet with grains, beans, lentils etc..
He is looking good in my opinion...but his measurements have not shifted yet!!!! Also, I have been receiving compliments in ballet class on my improved core and upper body strength as well as comments on my arms and back looking fitter but my measurements have also not changed yet!!! What gives???
Does it just take longer than three weeks?? How can you look better but there be no change in measurements??

It's about changing body composition..and it all depends on your personal makeup. Building strength/muscle means that you're probably both holding yourselves with better posture AND that soft, fatty deposits have been replaced with lean muscle.
Personally, I have 2 weeks left in Insanity and I've lost a minimal amount in body measurements and only 2 pounds...but I also know that I'm MUCH stronger than I was before. In addition to the minimal change in measurements, my clothes didn't seem to fit any differently until month 2. Even now, it's not a dramatic change, but I'm just starting to notice small things - like jeans straight out of the wash aren't as snug in the hips as they were before. Although I enviously gaze at blogs, articles (and even people on this site!) who have the dramatic results from the infomercials, I have decided to simply focus on how my workouts are improving - reps, form, endurance - and know that I'm improving my overall fitness along the way. I'll be changing to a different workout regimen following this program which will hopefully help with some of the vanity changes, but I know that, one way or another, Insanity was a step in the right direction!0 -
What is the next regimen you are going to try?
I don't really have much I want to lose as such but want to tone and tighten so hopefully this is happening/ will happen0 -
I'm going to be training for a half marathon in November. I'm coming off a pretty bad injury (Jones fracture), during which I stress ate like a fool (ugh...) so I'm carrying around 20 pounds that I don't need. I thought that since I was so overweight I would have more dramatic results with Insanity, but my capacity to form muscle is pretty huge so I've continued to make up the weight in muscle instead of insta-slimming. ;-) I went for hydrostatic body fat testing on Sunday and impressed the dude running the test with how much lean body mass I have for someone as short as I am. I was stressing about the test, to be honest, because I *am* so much heavier than I know I should be, but it confirmed that I'm at least of a healthy makeup if not ideal athletic physique. *phew!*
I'll be racking up the mileage while training (I'm only throwing in the -very- occasional 1-3 mile run on top of Insanity for now.) but I plan on doing 3-4 days a week of Insanity/Turbo Fire hybrid so that I don't lose too much of the muscle that I've built up during Insanity!
I'm sure you're seeing improvements in your workouts already, and you'll ESPECIALLY notice the improvement when the workouts kick up in Month 2. I am really proud nowadays when I am able to nail multiple sets of exercises that I struggled with all throughout Month 1.0
