Odd reaction to MCT oil

My MCT oil arrived yesterday and I immediately added 1 tsp to some BPB. My body's reaction (mentally and physically) to that was ... nothing. OK, maybe not enough. This morning 1/2 Tbsp into the BPB ... nothing. 3 hours later I decided to take 1/2 Tbsp without mixing it with anything. My body's response is .. I just want to take a nap. No increased mental acuity, no extra energy, no bathroom activity ... just wanted a nap. Reminds me of when, in the 70's, my doctor prescribed amphetamines for me (and in the 80"s when I got them in other ways) ... all I wanted to do then was sleep also. I'm thinking of taking the MCT oil late evening until the body gets adapted to it. Does anyone see a problem with this?

What brand did you buy? They are not all the same concentration of short chain fatty acids.
Those are what supply the boost of energy and ketones. If yours is one of the most common ones that contain only 4g caprylic and or capric acid per tablespoon, it may just not be strong enough to give you the boost in that dosage.
There are very few that have the higher concentration. Two I know of are Brain Octane Oil with 15g per tablespoon (I think that's right) and MiCkeyT which is about 13g per tablespoon and a little cheaper than the other one.

@Sunny_Bunny_ I had ordered Buried Treasure before I read your post telling about the other 2 with higher concentrations. Do you think taking a double dose will help until this bottle is done?

I think the buried treasure is a good choice as far as quality goes and for people that want to just use either MCT or coconut oil but not both. Because it does still contain lauric acid which has its own benefits.
You could definitely just keep increasing the dosage. Are you using butter too? It has short chain, butyric acid which is also a good thing.
The boost you get from MCT will also depend a little on your own ketone production. Since it just adds to the effect.

I use butter for cooking and in my bouillon ,,, regular coconut oil for skin and hair care. As for ketone production ... I haven't been over 30g of carbs daily (mostly under 20) since I started (12/12) but haven't measured with and outside device.

Just sounds like you need a little more to feel the effect then.
If you're not eating any coconut oil then the buried treasure would provide what you're not getting from coconut oil. But if what you're mainly looking for is the energy boost, you'd be better off with one of the others. You can get it from what you have, just need more of it. So, really, you can't go wrong either way. It's just another option.
Also, I think fasting, bulletproof style til lunch helps.

Excellent! Thanks for the help. Definitely right on the fasting BP style. Don't seem to have a desire to eat until at least 2pm and I love it.

MCT oil and I just did not get along for some reason(s). I just use a lot of coconut oil daily to get my MCT's.

Thanks @GaleHawkins ... I'll keep that possibility in mind if I get no effects in the next week or two.

I would taper in slowly if I was going to do it again but I was trying both MCT and coconut oil at the same time before I realized MCT and I could not live in the same house. :)
