I may go (stay) off my meds

As a woman with PCOS, I've been taking metformin off and on for close to ten years. I recently ran out of refills and wasn't able to schedule a doctor's appointment immediately. As a result, I've been off of my metformin for more than 2 weeks now.

I checked my blood sugar over the weekend, 2 hours after eating breakfast - it was 94! I've not seen a post-meal blood sugar under 100 in quite awhile!! I see my doctor on Thursday to determine if I can stay off of my metformin for good!!

Fingers crossed big time! I think that sounds like a pretty darned normal blood sugar from this pre-diabetic!!!

    I'm so excited!!!

Also, as a semi side note, I haven't taken my migraine meds in 2 weeks. I've suffered from migraines since I was a very young child, and typically get 3-4 a week. Amazing to be headache free!

    Is it the carbs??

That's awesome to be off meds! I've gotten off the meds for fibromyalgia about a month after starting Keto. Sadly, I still need the migraine meds, but the headaches are much fewer and farther between.

I suffered from migraines for years. Ever since childhood. It was so rare for a boy to get migraines that I was tested for all sorts of potential brain issues. They went down in frequency as I got older, but never went away. I was having maybe 2-3 a year, so very rare. I have not had a single once since I went keto. Not a single one. That's in over two years. Sure, it doesn't mean I could never have one again, but that's a big improvement. I can't help but credit low-carb for some of it.

Is there any research done on the affects of low carb on migraines? I have a friend who suffers, I feel so bad for her, I'd like to share any info that might help.

Good news in being less dependent on meds; however, going off of 1 or a few BG readings can be misleading as it is a transient/short term picture. Confirm your success with an HbA1C and discuss with your physician in letting him/her know how you've done without meds

That's great news @Panda_Poptarts I hope that trend continues! Do watch it closely though. In weaning myself off and on various diabetes drugs over the years, I've always found there's a bit of a delay in the body's response to a medication adjustment, which my doc always attributed to medication still being in my body even after I stopped taking it. But it sounds very positive!! Congrats
