Whole Foods

I went to Whole Foods for lunch today and was delighted that they had a few selections that were "paleo" ---- I was less delighted to learn that they do not provide nutrition information. That seemed so weird to me...like, why in the world would you go to the trouble of creating these healthy dishes, but not tell people how healthy they are? As a result I ended up 'creating' recipes based on web-based recipes I found for dishes named the same thing. I'm hoping it's close enough (and was also a little surprised that the carbs were higher in the recipes than I expected). Anyways...just sharing my weirdness for the day. I actually even called them to ask and the lady said that they get the requests ALL the time and they're in the process now of figuring out how they're going to do it. Supposedly they'll have the information available by the end of the year. Something to look forward to for 2017, I guess.

Paleo is NOT strictly low carb, though it does end up lowering some carbs by it's nature. It doesn't use AS, so different sweeteners and such, better quality carby veggies like sweet potatoes, etc.0

They're in the process of figuring it out, are they? Did you suggest they look into that "Internet" thingie? Lots of people have had success with it, I understand. It's gotten rather popular in certain circles.0

I know, right? She even said "I can give the ingredients and you can plug them in to mapmyfitness or whatever" --- eh....if you know that, then why is it a mystery on how "figure this out." Normally I would've taken down the info and done it, but I was busy and rather cranky so I just added a best guess for the day. Silliness.
I learned that about the paleo not necessarily being low carb when I first started this WOE, but I still like that the choices there are generally healthier overall than if I had the other clearly high-carb options. I called it close enough for a win.0 -

Agreed on the win!!! There is enough overlap that it's kind of fun to dabble in and modify in both plans!
And yeah... SIGH Lack of comprehension abound...0 -

It's because the official postings have to follow regulations set forth by the FDA and other alphabet soup agencies. Additionally, variations in recipes based on local availability of ingredients can further complicate matters.0 -
True story. At least they offered me the ingredients...too bad I was moody.0

They have recipes for all their food online. Plus ingredients so I know I am not eating crap that will make me sick. But ours don't have a paleo option :-(
Word of warning though - went out to a local chain restaurant here the other night. They had food labeled as 'paleo' on their menu. Thank goodness I asked, the spice mix they use on the dishes has flour in it, and it all comes pre-spiced so they can't take it off. When I mentioned to the waiter that wasn't paleo he just gave me a blank look.0
