Hi ladies, you seem to have a wealth of knowledge to share so here are a few questions! A little background, I am a 53 yr old menopausal vegetarian with pre diabetes. I started modified Atkins in January and have lost 10 pounds. :) I have about 18 more lbs to go to meet my goal weight. I am thinking of switching to south beach because it seems like a more sustainable woe for me. I am wondering though if I can keep eating regular cheese, butter etc on SB. I find eating more fat in my diet keeps me feeling full with less cravings. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

Hi! Technically, SB calls for low fat dairy, but I have never done that. I like more "natural" foods, and like the taste of regular cheese.
I lost all my weight doing it this way.

ps: welcome! (I'm menopausal as well), and I agree SB might be easier for a vegetarian. There's lots of info out there on that. Our launchpad has a link to recipes.

Great, thanks so much for the information! I am going to give SB a shot. I really miss lentils and beans and am tired of eating so much tofu and " fake meat"

Great! Feel free to add me. I'm not vegetarian, but my husband is, so we eat a lot of vegetarian meals.
Start with phase 2, since you've already done atkins.

Great! The original diet book is a super quick read.
Here's a good promo from the book:

Thanks for all the great resources! I am starting SB tomorrow , but will continue to track so I don't go wild with carbs

Day 3 all is good. Had some beans on my salad today and tofu " tacos" for dinner. still worried about adding in too many carbs. Happy to ditch the cream in my coffee though!

Beans are great. Especially during phase 1. Don't worry about the carbs from green vegetables.
