OMG, my very well intentioned co-worker just brought in a dozen donuts for the office to share. The thing is she has been ill for several months and now needs to gain weight, so docs want her to eat just about anything she can stand. I Do Not have this problem. And I want a donut. I am praying for help right now.

Did you stay away?? I have the same problem at my office. We have vendors who bring us everything from bagels to donuts to Chik-Fil-A breakfast sandwiches, Taco Cabana... It kills me. I stay away from that side of the office and pray that all the guys in the office will polish them off before I ever see them.

I did it. I did not eat any donuts. That really was tough. I did leave work about 90 minutes early. I'm just going to consider that my reward for good behavior. Also got me away from the silly damn donuts. I did go a little high on calories today. 1269. But with decent food, no sugar, and still an acceptable number.

Excellent!!! Leaving early is a better reward than a donut!!!! Once in while I will have a single timbit (donut hole) for a treat but it's only occasional. GOOD FOR YOU!!! Way to make the healthy choice!!!

My sister in law and I went out for coffee to a local donut shop, she had a beautiful glazed donut with her coffee. I just had coffee. I got vicarious pleasure watching her eat it. I' m pleased that I was able to resist!

That took more self-discipline than I usually have. You actually went voluntarily. Gutsy.

That is friggin' impressive. Not sure I could have done that. I would have had to splurge in my coffee or something.

I'm not a big Tim Horton's fan, but I do like a donut from time to time. I would not have been able to resist the donut myself. Or, they do make a great cinnamon bun.

So now we have Girl Scout cookies in the house. My husband came home with them a couple of days ago. Ugh. At least he did not buy Samoas. Then I might just be sunk. I allow myself some (150+-) treat calories several days per week. This helps a little. But I get a little afraid sometimes that I won't be able to stop myself from eating the whole box if I have any at all. I really hope this gets easier with time.

It does. Your body and mind start to think differently about the sweets and snacks. I've never been a fan of Girl Scout cookies, but I do have other weaknesses. But, just recently, while shopping, I thought about getting a gooey treat for after supper. Instead, I got a couple of tangelos. Now that's just weird. But I really enjoyed the tangelo.

That's a giggle. I can imagine it feels a little strange to enjoy fruit over gooey treats, but I look forward to that day.

This time it was the boss bringing the donuts. We had a company meeting and he had treats. Our office manager knows I've been trying to cut out the junk so she and the boss picked up an apple and an orange for me. Very nice and supportive of them.

I ate the orange and passed on the donut. :p

Sometimes I eat a timbit! Two bites and you have the pleasure of something sweet!! Every once in a while is ok! Great job on the healthy fruit snacks over the donuts!!! Honestly one of my absolute fave things to eat over almost anything is unsweetened frozen wild blueberries that I heat and eat with my oatmeal! There is something about that to me which is super satisfying!!

    What is a timbit?

A donut hole. We have Tim Horton's for our coffee and donuts. So, we call the donut holes, timbits.

I see. That's a great idea. I don't know if there are any shops near me that sell donut holes by the piece, but I'll keep my eyes open. I have found it helpful with other foods to buy small quantities. I know it's more expensive but it's worth it to have a treat and maintain portion control.

That's so awesome of them! Having support like that makes the journey much better!
